I posted about this point a few days ago when I posted about NECA getting the license to create movie tie-in figures next year.
It got me to thinking about the Godzilla Walk of Fame ceremony in November 2004 in which Toho Co., Ltd. asked me to pen a brief History of Godzilla for the late Honorary Mayor of Hollywood Johnny Grant. It was the reading of this history that Grant amused the gathering with his botching of different monster names.

I thought that the text of the history was floating around the Internet. Alas, it wasn't. Fortunately, it was still stored in my old computer, so I printed and scanned it and posted it here for your enjoyment.
At the ceremony, during the reading of the history, I amused then Toho-L.A. General Manager Shozo Watanabe as I was listening to the reading. He told me later he was watching me intently listen to Grant. Grant, I might add, read it verbatim.

Hi, Armand. I was at this dedication ceremony as well (I think I got you in a few pictures - I'll have to check). But, your post reminded me of how amused I was at Grant's delivery, as well. Too funny. Don't know if you remember me, but I went with you and a few other G-Super Fans to the screening of Godzilla 2000, which we followed up with that great Italian dinner in Hollywood. Maybe we should do the same for the Godzilla 2014 screening? Take care. Cheers - Mario Artavia
