Winter Weather Advisory

It appears that a big snow storm is on the way, not that it was unexpected.

There's been a Winter Weather Advisory issued:

...ACCUMULATING SNOW LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING...

.A storm system will cross from west central to north central New
Mexico producing a few to several inches of accumulating snow
late tonight through Sunday evening. The heaviest snow will favor
the Jemez, southern Sangre de Cristo and Sandia Mountains, as
well as Mount Taylor, where higher peaks and southwest facing
slopes could accumulate up to 10 inches of snow. A few inches to
locally near 5 inches of snow is expected at lower elevations to
the north and west of Clines Corners.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO
MIDNIGHT MST SUNDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5
  inches, except 4 to 8 inches above 7,500 feet, and locally
  higher amounts near 10 inches on higher peaks and southwest
  facing slopes of the Jemez Mountains, Sangre de Cristo
  Mountains, Sandia Mountains and Mount Taylor. The lowest
  elevations of the middle Rio Grande Valley (including
  Albuquerque`s South Valley and Belen) may only accumulate around
  1 inch of snow.

* WHERE...Along and west of a line from Red River to Las Vegas and
  Clines Corners, excluding Farmington and the Chuska Mountains.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to midnight MST Sunday night. Snow
  will increase in coverage and intensity after midnight tonight
  over the west central mountains and west central plateau.
  Farther east periods of light to moderate snow will occur late
  tonight, then periods of moderate to heavy snow are expected
  through the day on Sunday. Snow will decrease in coverage and
  intensity over western areas Sunday afternoon, then more
  gradually Sunday evening farther east.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow packed and icy roads will make travel
  difficult. The visibility will drop below a quarter mile at
  times during periods of heavy snow and freezing fog. Wind chill
  temperatures will drop into the single digits and teens in many
  locations.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads
and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
