In a few hours, I am going to head up to Ridgway, Colorado to watch the John Wayne Cancer Foundation Grit Series Half Marathon and 5k that will be held tomorrow. Proceeds from the event benefit cancer research.

Ridgway is a beautiful town where True Grit (1969) was filmed. It starred John Wayne, Glen Campbell, Kim Darby, Robert Duvall and Jeff Corey. I visited it two years ago.

Ridgway is a five-hour drive from home on the scenic Million Dollar Highway in the San Juan Mountains. The route will take me through Durango, Silverton and Ouray, Colorado.
