DOJ Sues Denver Over Unconstitutional Weapons Bans

Colorado was once a red state (i.e., Republican), but Democrat liberals have moved into this state and now are inflicting their ideology on the people there.

The Second Amendment rights of Colorado's citizens are under attack. Now, the Denver city council is trying to ban so-called assault weapons and now are being sued by the Trump Department of Justice.

From Justice.gov:

Today, the Justice Department filed suit against the City of Denver, Colorado alleging that the City unconstitutionally bans certain constitutionally protected semi-automatic rifles. These laws unconstitutionally infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms in common use for lawful purposes.

As the complaint explains, the City enforces an ordinance that makes it a crime to possess so-called “assault weapons.” But that the City’s ban includes AR-15-style rifles, which are the most popular rifles in America. Law-abiding Americans own tens of millions of rifles like those banned by the City.  

“The Constitution is not a suggestion and the Second Amendment is not a second-class right,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. “Denver's ban on commonly owned semi-automatic rifles directly violates the right to bear arms. This Department of Justice will vigorously defend the liberties of law-abiding citizens nationwide.”

Sealed Bag of Franklin Half Dollars May Be Worth $100,000

Generally, from different articles I have read, Franklin silver half dollars aren't that popular within the numismatic world for varying reasons.

But a sealed canvas bag of 2,000 Franklin silver half dollars set to go up for auction is a big exception. The bag of coins may fetch $100,000 at auction according to Numismatic News.

They wrote:

A canvas bag containing 2,000 silver half dollars struck in 1963 at the Denver Mint and sewn shut there 60 years ago will bring a pretty penny for an elderly northeast Oklahoma woman who received the coins as a gift from her father a half-century ago.

“This original, mint-sealed bag contains $1,000 face value of 50-cent denomination coins, but each 1963 half dollar depicting Benjamin Franklin contains about $9 worth of silver. Also, mint condition 1963 Denver Mint half dollars usually sell today for about $50 each, so I would not be surprised if this bag sold for $100,000 or more,” stated Rick Tomaska, co-founder of Rare Collectibles TV of Los Angeles, Calif.

Numbers Suggest Kennedy 2023 Half Dollars Were Ordered For Circulation

It was 2001 when the U.S. Mint last intentionally minted Kennedy half dollars for general circulation.

This year, the Mint apparently is producing Kennedy half dollars for general circulation. For some reason, numismatists are all excited over this. Frankly, as far as I am concerned, the only half dollars, Kennedy or otherwise, that interest me are the ones containing silver. I have plenty of 1964 Kennedy half dollars, the only year with 90% silver. For the following few years after that, the silver content was at 40%.

According to Coin World:

The difference between the overall number of 2023-P and 2023-D Kennedy half dollars struck in circulation finish by the U.S. Mint and the numbers of them sold at numismatic premiums above face value suggest that the Federal Reserve has ordered coins from the bureau for general circulation distribution.

As of June 21, circulation quality Kennedy half dollar production for 2023 posted at the U.S. Mint’s website records 5.4 million coins from each of the two Mint production facilities, a total of 10.8 million Kennedy half dollars.

Numismatic products that contain 2023 Kennedy half dollars went on public sale May 15 and include $100 face value canvas bags of 200 half dollars, comprising 100 coins from each Mint, offered at $147 per bag, and two-roll sets priced at $34.50, comprising one 20-coin roll from each Mint.

The 200-coin bags are limited to sales of a maximum of 11,000 bags, and two-roll set sales are limited to 25,000 sets.

As of June 18, bag sales reached 7,655 bags, while two-roll set totals were at 26,689. Those numismatic sale totals account for 2,598,560 coins from the overall circulation quality Kennedy half dollar output, or about 25% of the total.

Major League Baseball Sued Over All-Star Game Move

Go woke, go broke! 

That's been popping up for the past several weeks and now it is aimed directly at Major League Baseball for pulling next month's All-Star Game from Atlanta and moving it to Denver, all due to a lie about the new voter law passed in Georgia.

A conservative group representing small businesses that says MLB's decision to move its All-Star game out of Atlanta is proof Commissioner Rob Manfred has "no balls" is now ready to throw another brush-back pitch. 

With more than 30 partners ranging from the Nevada Chamber of Commerce to the National Restaurant Association, the Job Creators Network says baseball's decision to boycott Atlanta over its objection to Georgia’s voting law is wrong and it is taking MLB to court. 

FOX Business has learned that the right-leaning trade group founded by Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus — plans to file a lawsuit in Manhattan federal court Tuesday morning alleging that MLB's decision has injured Atlanta’s small business community. Also to be named in the lawsuit, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter is the Major League Baseball Players Association – the union which represents some 1,200 players – and which the Job Creators Network contends played a role in the decision to move the game out of Atlanta to Denver.

Alfredo Ortiz, president of the Job Creators Network, has mounted a high profile campaign against the baseball’s decision with protests in front of MLB headquarters in Manhattan and billboards in Times Square that mocked MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred as having "All Strikes and No Balls" for caving into left-wing pressure groups that have denounced the state’s new voter law as being overly restrictive to minority and poor voters.

Conservatives and Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia have argued that the law simply requires voters to produce proper ID and ensures the integrity of mail-in voting. 

"MLB robbed the small businesses of Atlanta – many of them minority-owned – of $100 million. We want the game back where it belongs," Ortiz told FOX Business, "This was a knee-jerk, hypocritical and illegal reaction to misinformation about Georgia’s new voting law which includes voter ID."

Good! MLB has a choice, either hold the All-Star Game in Atlanta where it belongs or be possibly liable to pay $100 billion.

NM Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham Pisses Off Colorado's Governor

If busing illegal migrants from New Mexico to Denver, Colorado wasn't bad enough, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham made matters worse by pissing of Colorado's governor.

According to KRQE:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - The governor of Colorado is speaking out saying Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham did not provide a warning before sending migrants there.  

A group of migrants were bused to Denver with the help of the governor's office. The Denver Post reports that Lujan Grisham's office paid $4,000 for the transport of 55 Central American migrants. 

The Denver Post states that this was in coordination with a nonprofit, Annunciation House, that helps send migrants to Denver due to the overcapacity of shelters. This is reportedly the first time the organization sent migrants to another state.  

The Denver Post says Governor Jared Polis supports providing assistance, however, was not provided any notice.

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham Busing Illegals To Denver

Lunatics abound in the Democrat Party, and that also includes New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

The latest concerns the flood of illegal immigrants into New Mexico. She's now busing them to Denver, Colorado. The cost: $4,000 (so far).

Earlier this year, far left New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham withdrew 118 National Guard troops from New Mexico’s southern boundary with Mexico. 

Governor Grisham called President Trump’s policies a “charade of border fear-mongering.”

Now the New Mexico border is being overrun by the drug cartels following the governor’s brilliant plan to remove troops from its southern border.

A local sheriff said he saw $60,000 in deadly drug shipments in April, up from $3,500 in January. 

Now this… 

The flood of illegals is too much for New Mexico to handle so now the liberal Democrat governor is busing the illegals to Denver.

Now New Mexico's problem (brought on by the Governor and her party in Santa Fe) is also Colorado's problem.

Denver Council Candidate Is A Communist

The Democrat Party has turned hard left. Not just liberal. Not just left. But COMMUNIST!

There's a Democrat candidate for a seat on the Denver, Colorado City Council who is an avowed communist. Others have skirted it (calling themselves "Democratic Socialists"), but at least she's honest about it.

Candi CdeBaca makes no bones about it in her race for the Denver City Council — capitalism exploits the worker while communism is cool. 

We were not aware of this, but according to CdeBaca, capitalism is in its late phase because it doesn’t work and will soon be a relic of the past.

Well, wouldn't the late Wisconsin Senator Joseph McCarthy have a field day if he were alive now?

They're not hiding it anymore.

Fly U.S. To Tokyo For Under $700 This Fall

Condé Nast Traveler has posted a brief article on flying to Tokyo for less than $700 this fall.

They wrote:

With a little planning ahead, travelers can save nearly 50 percent off the regular airfare to Tokyo from cities like New York, Houston, and Cleveland for flights this autumn and winter. Tokyo doesn't get cheaper than this, but you'll have to be quick.

United Relaunches Direct Flights From Denver To Tokyo

Residents of the Rocky Mountain State can now fly direct to Japan as United Airlines has started flying the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Denver to Tokyo's Narita International Airport.

According to Japan Today:

TOKYO —United Airlines has relaunched international services on the 787 Dreamliner with the inaugural flight from the airline’s hub in Denver to Tokyo-Narita International Airport this week. 

The flight marks Denver’s first nonstop connection to Asia. 

Flight 139 departs Denver daily at 12:35 and arrives at Tokyo-Narita International Airport at 15:30 the next day. For the return, Flight 138 departs Tokyo at 17:25 and arrives in Denver at 13:15 the same day (all times are local).

Debate Showed Obama Out of His League

It has been over 24 hours since the first debate between President Obama and Governor Mitt Romney and it is amazing to see the total derangement of the American Left.  They are in virtual meltdown.

Chris Matthews, amongst others, went off his rocker, incredulous over how listless Obama was while facing, for the first time, an articulate conservative.   He has never faced an intellectual equal (or superior) in his life.

 

They are also blaming Jim Lehrer for his moderation or, in their view, lack of moderation of the debate.  I thought he did just fine as he let the candidates question each other.  That's a real debate!

Al Gore blamed the altitude of the city of Denver (the "Mile-high City") on Obama's poor performance.

In reality, this was the real Obama we saw in Denver.  He was out of his league back in 2008 and he is out of his league now.    

One thing has been noted during these past 24 hours that makes the most sense is that the media, in their efforts to protect Obama since 2008, did him no favor as he has never been seriously challenged over his policies or his political views.  Obama, and most of the Left, live in bubbles where the only views they hear are ones they agree with.  They don't seek out opposing viewpoints.  They try to censor them.

Take a look at Obama's upbringing.  He was nurtured by Leftists, communists, progressives, and radical ministers.  He really doesn't know anything else.  He is not used to being challenged.

Leftism is emotion-based.  It doesn't matter if a program doesn't work or how much it costs.  It it only the "good intentions" that matter to them.  Facts don't impress them.  Reality doesn't mean anything to them.  They believe in a certain way and that's all they subscribe to.

Leftists see people of the Right as "evil," whereas people of the Right see them as just wrongheaded.   Leftists want to control people's lives to perpetuate their power, conservatives just want to be left alone.

The excuse the Left is promoting is that Romney "lied," yet they don't present any evidence of this.  They believe in their own distortions of Romney's positions.  When faced with the facts, unfiltered by the lapdog Obama mainstream media, they became unglued.  This was the real Romney everyone saw.

When Ronald Reagan performed poorly in his first debate with Walter Mondale in 1984 or when George H. W. Bush performed poorly against Bill Clinton in 1992, conservatives didn't go out in a hysterical panic.  Conservatives, unlike the Left, are not emotion-driven.

Romney's win was an ideological and factual one.  A stark contrast of the two positions of the role of government in people's lives was presented.  Viewers were much more responsive to Romney's view. 

Obama, obviously, just can't handle it.  

14 Killed, 50 Injured In Theater Shooting

Fox News is reporting that a gunman opened fire at an Aurora Colorado theater tonight:

At least 14 people have been killed and up to 50 injured after a mass shooting at a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" at a suburban Denver movie theater, police

The violent and chaotic scene erupted about 12:30 a.m. MDT as a gunman stood at the front of one of the Century 16 theaters at the Aurora Mall where the  movie "The was playing, police said.

United To Fly From Denver To Tokyo

Good news for residents of the Rocky Mountain states!

United Airlines has begun selling tickets for flights from Denver to Tokyo.

Japan Today reports:

CHICAGO —United Airlines started selling tickets for its first 787 flights on Tuesday, saying it plans to start service between Denver and Tokyo.

As of Tuesday those will be the first commercial 787 flights on a U.S. airline. Boeing delivered the first 787 late last year to Japan’s All Nippon Airways. Airlines have been eager for the fuel-efficient, midsized plane.

At one time, Continental, which merged with United in 2010, had planned to introduce 787 flying from Houston to Auckland, New Zealand. Its 2010 merger with United Airlines put United at the front of the line for U.S. airlines waiting for that plane.
