Scouting Fort Wingate Army Depot

Above, at the main entrance to Fort Wingate Army Depot.

This morning, I headed over to the former Fort Wingate Army Depot to see if I could find someone there (security or otherwise) to get the contact information for the Fort's administrator.

The main entrance to the former Army depot is under Interstate 40 off old Route 66 about 10 miles from Gallup.

Unfortunately, the only living things there were two horses. They were down the road inside the main gate, so they were of no help.

Previously, when I visited the army depot, there was a security truck parked at the main entrance. Maybe he was on patrol rounds or just screwing around.

The purpose of my visit was to scout locations at the gates for a possible Clamper plaque/monument and for possible clamp-sites for the Lost Dutchman Chapter for next year.

In the meantime, I am contacting the local congressman and a New Mexico historical society for some leads for getting a hold of the people in charge of the Fort Wingate site.
