It is no secret that Title 42 expires tonight, thanks to His Fraudulency Joe Biden. This will result in an invasion of illegal migrants crossing into our country along the southern border.

What is our esteemed governor of New Mexico doing about this humanitarian crisis?

Here's what she posted on Twitter today:

As usual, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham just sits on her ass expecting others to act. She can act to prevent the invasion into New Mexico by sending the National Guard to the southern border. But she refuses to do so. Frankly, failure to protect our state and people are grounds for impeachment and removal. This is clearly nonfeasance on her part.

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham's poll numbers must be in the toilet or pretty close to it. 

Suddenly, after nearly four years as governor, she's concerned about the influx of illegal aliens into New Mexico. Over the past four years, she's done everything she could to allow illegals into New Mexico and even refused to send the National Guard to secure the border with Mexico.

Now that she's running for re-election, she's finally concerned about illegals flooding the state.

According to News4JAX:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico’s Democratic governor is asking that the Biden administration delay planned or expanded efforts to transport migrants to her state if pandemic-related restrictions on asylum seekers are lifted.

The federal government has predicted a threefold increase in border crossings if that happens, and first-term Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said Tuesday an influx of migrants would dramatically affect the border state’s capacity to provide ongoing humanitarian assistance to thousands of New Mexico residents displaced by historic wildfires this spring.

She outlined her concerns in a letter sent to Homeland Security Secretary Alejando Mayorkas.

The governor is among Democrats who would be forced to play defense in an already difficult midterm election year if there were an increase in illegal border crossings.

You're a little late to the party, aren't you, governor? (And I'm not talking about the street party wherein MLG danced in the streets like a chicken or something, making a total ass of herself.)

Rep. Yvette Herrell Renews Call For National Guard At U.S. Border

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham says "everything is on the table" to deal with the so-called surge of the "Delta Variant" of COVID-19. Talk about ominous!

The last lockdown in New Mexico killed 40% of the state's small businesses.

One cannot believe a word Lujan Grisham says when it comes to COVID-19 since she refuses to deploy the National Guard to the Mexican border to stop the flow of illegals into the state, some infected with COVID-19. How does she expect to protect New Mexico's citizens when she refuses to secure the border?

At least we have one representative who is fighting to secure the border.

LAS CRUCES – U.S. Rep. Yvette Herrell, R-N.M., renewed her previous call for Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to deploy the New Mexico National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border. 

Herrell, the lone Republican in New Mexico's congressional delegation, represents New Mexico's 2nd congressional district, which encompasses all of southern New Mexico. 

The congresswoman first made the request in April in response to large increases of traffic at the U.S-Mexico border and pressure on the U.S. Border Patrol, which Herrell described in her original letter as "overworked, undermanned and under-supplied." 

In 2018, Lujan Grisham's predecessor, Gov. Susana Martinez, deployed state guardsmen to assist Border Patrol with non-enforcement activities, at the behest of President Donald Trump (a fellow Republican), in response to an increase in unlawful border crossings and resistance in Congress to Trump's promised border wall. 

Weeks after taking office in 2019, Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, withdrew most of that deployment. 

If Lujan Grisham really wanted to stop the spread of coronavirus, she would deploy the National Guard at the border.

Albuquerque, April 11—The Republican Party of New Mexico is shocked and dismayed that a request from Rep. Yvette Herrell to Gov. Lujan Grisham to deploy the New Mexico National Guard to the Mexico border was dismissed. The Governor’s refusal to take action reeks of politics and manifests her lack of concern for the health and safety of New Mexicans.

Rep. Herrell had written the Governor, stressing the need for the troops to stop the massive wave of migrant families and unaccompanied children who are coming across the border. The Congresswoman informed the Governor that New Mexico is on the front line of the border problem that’s been exacerbated by the Biden Administration’s weak immigration policies. She added the influx of migrants also threatens public health as New Mexico continues to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Governor’s Office rejected Herrell’s request, suggesting she take her concerns to federal agencies.

“This is another case of our Governor being derelict in her duty as Chief Executive,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “She continues to fail New Mexicans with her poor choices and bad decisions. It’s harrowing to know that after virtually destroying our state with her pandemic policies that the Governor would risk the security and safety of New Mexicans along the border. When she cannot deal with a problem, she deflects. This is poor leadership and a dangerous way to handle the threat at our state border.”

Rep. Herrell also pointed out to the Governor that the U.S. Border Patrol is overworked, undermanned and under-supplied. She said it’s the Governor’s duty to protect her citizens.

“If Governor Grisham was serious about the health and welfare of New Mexican citizens, she would move swiftly to send National Guard troops to the border," said Herrell. “She does not need to wait for the federal government to do her job. We already know many migrants coming across our southern border illegally have been exposed to or have COVID-19.”
 
The U.S. Border Patrol last week reported nearly 170,000 encounters with migrants on the U.S.-Mexico border in March. That was a 20-year high. That figure includes almost 19,000 children traveling by themselves across the U.S.-Mexico border. The crossings are happening in record numbers.

Trump's Dilemma

Rush Limbaugh had an interesting monologue today on the dilemma that President Trump is in.

One of them involves possible insubordinate generals who "may" refuse orders to go into the cities to restore order.

Another one is that in past years, 1965 and 1968 are two examples, governors and mayors welcomed the National Guard when they were requested by them to restore order. Such is not the case today. Many of these Democrat mayors and governors want the riots to continue and they aren't supporting their own police. Some of them are moving to defund the police.

But I tell you, Trump has really been hemmed in here by something that I don’t think a lot of people are giving enough consideration to, and that is the already expressed insubordination of the American military. 

These generals, Mattis to Milley to all these guys that have come out and basically disavowed anything to do with Trump to, say, the trip over to the church in Lafayette Park. They’ve made it clear, if Trump calls out the U.S. military to restore law and order, that they may not do it, that they may tell Trump to go take a flying leap somewhere. And he’s aware of this. 

So the worst thing he could do is, as commander-in-chief, is order these guys to deploy the military and have them say, “Screw you, Mr. Pres.” He’s gotta be really, really careful about this. He knows everything that’s stacked against him. And he knows the narrow path that he has to win reelection. 

BREAK TRANSCRIPT 

RUSH: I’m hearing people say, “Rush, Trump’s gotta do more to stop the rioting. He’s gotta do more to step in there and stop this.” Yeah, I know. But, folks, in the past whenever this has been necessary, it was done by helping overwhelmed local and state authorities who wanted order restored in their states and in their cities. We don’t have that part of the equation right now. 

So it’s one thing to say, “Trump’s gotta stop the violence. He’s got to show leadership. He’s gotta move!” Well, if these lunatic governors do not want this stuff stopped, if the governor of Washington and the mayor of Seattle don’t want it stopped — and if Gavin Newsom doesn’t want it stopped in California and if that mayor in Detroit doesn’t want it stopped — and then Trump moves in there anyway? 

You know, that’s the big difference.  

In the past, when there was this kind of rioting and disorder and property destruction, even Democrat governors and mayors — Mayor Daley Chicago ’68 — wanted it stopped. They welcomed the arrival of the National Guard or federal troops. But that… What’s Trump gonna do?

Gallup Mayor Requests Lockdown Extension

When Gov. "Malevolent Michelle" Lujan Grisham ordered the three-day lockdown of Gallup, New Mexico last week, it seemed more like "closing the barn door after the horse already fled."

The lockdown of Gallup is set to expire at noon tomorrow. However, the newly-elected mayor is asking for an extension.

From KOB Channel 4 News:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Mayor of Gallup is asking the governor to extend the city's lockdown to help curb COVID-19's impact. 

"I recognize this request is unusual and constitutes a drastic measure, and the emergency powers set out under the Riot Control Act  should be invoked sparingly," said Gallup Mayor Louis Bonaguidi in a letter to the governor. "However, the COVID-19 outbreak in the City of Gallup is a crisis of the highest order." 

The weekend lockdown went into effect on Friday and required all businesses to close by 5 p.m.  

State Police officers and the New Mexico National Guard are blocking vehicles from entering Gallup.

At present, I have plenty of food and supplies to last for two weeks, so I have no need to go into Gallup. However, if I am running low on things, I can always go to Grants, which is about 45 miles east of Jamestown. Gallup is about 19 miles west of Jamestown.

T.G.I.F. Kickback Day

When one is retired, every day is T.G.I.F. or, to put it differently, every day is a Saturday.

I needed to get groceries this morning, so I started working on my list of stuff to get. When I arrived at Albertson's, stationed near the line of people waiting for admittance into the store (one exits and one enters) were two members of the National Guard.

I heard that the governor ordered them to be deployed in Gallup about a week ago, so this was the first time actually seeing them.

According to KRQE:

GALLUP, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Gallup, working the Office of Governor and the State of New Mexico Public Health Department, will be deploying the New Mexico Army National Guard to the Gallup community to provide support to grocery stores with social distancing and metering measures due to COVID-19.  

City officials say that in passing days they have seen a large surge in the people coming to town and going to stores. They say people might be concerned with the curfew and rush to buy alcohol at grocery stores since the ban at liquor stores. The City requested support from the National Guard to help move people orderly and maintain social distance protocols.

The curfew the article refers to is the one in the nearby Navajo Nation. There's no curfew in Gallup. Since Gallup is about 20 miles from the Arizona border, many Arizonans do their shopping in Gallup. That's likely part of the surge in people. It is usually a 50/50 split of vehicles at markets and Walmart with Arizona or New Mexico plates.

Looney Left Report: Democrats May Use National Guard To Enforce Gun Control

The Democrat tyrants haven't even taken office yet in Virginia and already they are threatening to use the National Guard to enforce gun control laws they pass if the police won't.

They are clearly inviting a rebellion of the likes we haven't seen since the Civil War.

The Washington Examiner reported:

Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill say local police who do not enforce gun control measures likely to pass in Virginia should face prosecution and even threats of the National Guard. 

After November's Virginia Legislature elections that led to Democrats taking control of both chambers, the gun control legislation proposed by some Democrats moved forward, including universal background checks, an “assault weapons” ban, and a red flag law. 

Legal firearm owners in the state, however, joined with their sheriffs to form Second Amendment sanctuary counties, which declare the authorities in these municipalities uphold the Second Amendment in the face of any gun control measure passed by Richmond. 

Over 75 counties in Virginia have so far adopted such Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions in the commonwealth, the latest being Spotsylvania County. The board of supervisors voted unanimously to approve a resolution declaring that county police will not enforce state-level gun laws that violate Second Amendment rights.

Virginia Democratic officials, however, already say local law enforcement supporting these resolutions will face consequences if they do not carry out any law the state Legislature passes.

RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) -- More than 70 places in Virginia are becoming Second Amendment sanctuaries. 

Governor Ralph Northam says there will be no retaliation for becoming one but says there could be consequences if laws aren't followed. 

The decision to start declaring localities a 'Second Amendment Sanctuary' comes after Virginia Democrats took control of the General Assembly in the latest election.

Northam speaks out of both sides of his mouth. He says, "no retaliation" against sanctuary counties but then threatens "consequences" if they don't enforce gun control laws. Consequence means retaliation, fool!

What governor of New Mexico pulled the National Guard from the New Mexico-Mexico border, thereby allowing a flood of illegals into the state?

Who declared that the immigration crisis is a "charade of border fear-mongering"?

Who went to Washington, D.C. recently to beg for funds to reimburse cities for the "humanitarian crisis" aid costs they incurred?

The answer to those is Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham!

Now she's filing a lawsuit against the Trump Administration over quick-release of illegals into the state's communities.

According to KVIA:

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - The state of New Mexico is suing the Trump administration over its quick-release asylum practices for immigrants, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Monday afternoon. 

The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, seeks to halt what it calls the Trump administration's "indiscriminate practice of releasing migrants in communities in the state's borderland area," which the governor said is in violation of the federal government's own "safe release" policy. 

The U.S. Justice Department declined to comment on the lawsuit when contacted late Monday. 

Under the "safe release" policy, asylum-seeking individuals were provided assistance in reaching their final destinations while waiting for their claims to be processed. The lawsuit alleges the "sudden and unlawful abandonment of this policy was done without notice or opportunity for input by affected jurisdictions." 

That federal program was canceled in October 2018 amid a tide of migration from Central America into the United States. Asylum seekers typically are released almost immediately, while New Mexico cities including Las Cruces, Albuquerque and Deming have borne some of the brunt.

This governor is such a buffoon. She caused a lot of this mess by pulling the National Guard from the border and is refusing to re-deploy them now. And she has the nerve to beg for money for pay for the "charade" of her own making.

Apparently, her recent trip to Washington to beg for funds didn't go too well.

Gov. Lujan Grisham Seeks Migrant Reimbursement For Her Nonfeasance

The intentional failure to perform a required duty or obligation.

Soon after taking office, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham pulled most of the National Guard troops from the New Mexico - Mexico border. Since then the state has been flooded with illegal migrants entering the state.

Grisham has also denied that there was even a "crisis" at the border.

Now, in an incredible display of chutzpah, she is now going to Washington, D.C. to get reimbursement from the federal government.

According to the Corvallis Gazette-Times:

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is traveling to Washington, D.C., to press for more federal resources to cope with an influx of asylum seekers at the U.S. border with Mexico. 

Lujan Grisham spokesman Tripp Stelnicki said the governor was departing Tuesday for a scheduled face-to-face meeting this week with acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan. 

Stelnicki said the governor will advocate for federal reimbursements to local communities as they provide humanitarian relief to migrant families. 

Lujan Grisham also wants to discuss the U.S. Border Patrol's withdrawal from interior checkpoints in southern New Mexico that has riled local residents. 

The first-year Democratic governor also is seeking an introductory meeting with Energy Secretary Rick Perry regarding his oversight of nuclear waste storage facilities and federal weapons laboratories in New Mexico. 

The governor's trip includes partisan fundraising activities.

A dozen Republican state legislators want Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham to reverse course and deploy more National Guard troops to the border with Mexico. 

GOP House lawmakers including minority leader James Townsend of Artesia provided a letter Monday to the governor's office that urges Lujan Grisham to deploy more state National Guard troops to border communities. 

Lujan Grisham has challenged President Trump's description of a security crisis on the border and withdrawn all but a dozen national guardsmen who continue to address humanitarian needs in a remote corridor for border-crossing immigration.

It is due to Lujan Grisham's nonfeasance that there is a crisis in New Mexico. She has a lot of nerve!

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham PULLS Nat’l Guard Troops From Border, Drug Smuggling Explodes

If anyone needs a clear example of the word lunatic, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham fills the bill.

According to Borderpac.org:

New Mexico’s new, Trump-hating open-borders governor has taken radical actions just to spite the President — but the results are proving disastrous for her own state, and likely nation as well. 

Trump deployed National Guard and U.S. Army troops to the Mexican border to deal with a huge increase in illegal entries in January.

In act of what she called “resistance” against the president, New Mexico’s Democratic governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham withdrew 118 National Guard troops from the state’s southern boundary. 

She said she did it to counter what she called Trump’s “charade of border fear-mongering,” and as a “protest” against Trump’s move to ban “transgendered” troops from the U.S. military. 

The results have been nothing short of disastrous, with drug smuggling activities “exploding” since her deranged move.

Unfortunately, there is no provision in New Mexico's constitution or laws providing for the recall (removal) of an elected state official by the vote of the people.

Matsushima Bay

Immediately following the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, I was concerned about the death and destruction in northeastern Japan, particularly Matsushima and Sendai.

Back in April 2006, I took a vacation trip to Japan. I was primarily in Tokyo, but took a few days to visit Sendai and Matsushima in the Tohoku region.

My father, who died in 1999, was in the National Guard in the 40th Division in Los Angeles. When the Korean War broke out, his National Guard unit was called up in 1951 and he was sent first to Japan. He was Military Policeman (MP) and he described most of his duties as "getting drunks out of the local jails." He was based in Sendai, but had some duties in Matsushima. He sent the photo below of himself in front of Godaido temple to my mother:

Before going to Japan in 2006, I checked to see where the photo was taken. It wasn't too difficult as he wrote on the back of the picture about being on duty in Matsushima in front of "a 500-year-old temple." I was able to find that the temple as Godaido and planned my vacation accordingly. I arranged to stay at Bansuitei Ikoiso Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Sendai, which is about 20 minutes from Matsushima via commuter train.

Once there, I started my "sentimental journey" by taking the train to Matsushima and got off at the station nearest to Godaido. It was a short but enjoyable walk from there to Godaido.

When I got to Godaido, I had one of the cruise boat operators take a couple of pictures of me similar to the one of my dad. I showed them the photo of my dad from 1951 and they were fascinated.

Following this, I bought my ticket for the bay boat cruise and chatted with the ship's crew. Luckily, they spoke some English.

While taking the cruise, I thought that my dad was lucky to be put on duty at such a scenic location. Matsushima Bay is considered one of the top three scenic locations in Japan. His stint there was only a few months before being shipped off to South Korea for the war there.

It was difficult taking pictures of the bay's islets due to the flocks of seagulls begging for food from the ship's passengers. They kept getting in the way or in the picture (below).



It was interesting seeing all of the tiny islets in Matsushima Bay as well as the oyster (kaki) farms (Matsushima is famous for their oysters). It was also interesting to see in-person where my dad was while he was in Japan.

Sendai is the main stop via shinkansen from Tokyo. It is about a two-hour ride, but a relaxing and scenic one.

Although Sendai and Matsushima were hit hard by the earthquake and tsunami, Matsushima Bay itself was spared (thanks to the islets in the bay blunting the force of the tsunami) catastrophic damage and most businesses have cleaned up and are back open for business.
