New Mexico Democrats’ Gun Grab Collapses

Thanks to a boatload of amendments to Senate Bill 17 in the New Mexico legislature, the bill died a well-deserved death just before the legislative session ends.

According to Pinon Post:

In the final stretch of New Mexico’s legislative session, two sweeping gun control measures championed by progressive Democrats have effectively collapsed — a major victory for New Mexicans’ Second Amendment rights.

Senate Bill 17, the so-called “Stop Illegal Gun Trade and Extremely Dangerous Weapons Act,” was rolled indefinitely in the House Judiciary Committee, halting what critics described as one of the most aggressive gun control packages ever introduced in New Mexico. Meanwhile, Senate Bill 261, which sought to dramatically expand so-called “gun-free zones” around polling places and ballot drop boxes, failed to advance out of the House Government, Elections and Indian Affairs Committee after Ranking Member Rep. John Block forcefully exposed what he called “massive holes” in the legislation.

According to reporting from the Santa Fe New Mexican, the bill’s sponsors admitted the bill’s effective death, with state Sen. Debbie O’Malley telling the outlet, “There’s not enough time to hear it again.”

With time running out in the session, Democrats were unable to muster the momentum needed to ram the bills through — despite heavy pressure from national gun control groups. Pro-gun groups, lawmakers like Rep. Stefani Lord (R-Sandia Park), concerned citizens, and others were instrumental in the death of the radical bill — described the most far-reaching anti-gun measure in the entire country. 

It is said that radical leftist Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham will call for a special session to try to revive the bill.

Democrats Refuse To Fix NM Medical Malpractice Insurance Problem

Doctors are fleeing New Mexico due to the high cost of medical malpractice insurance or are unable to renew their existing policies. 

You can thank the Democrats for this debacle. They are refusing to fix the problem.

NM Gun-Grabbers Have Made Their Move

It was inevitable. The Democrats who control the legislature in Santa Fe, New Mexico have made their move.

@GovMLG is frothing at the mouth to pass this bill that bans ALL semi-auto rifles, leaving you with only bolt action, lever action, single shot, muzzleloaders, .22 caliber, and mandatory 10-round permanently fixed  (cannot be removed without a tool) magazines. 

To keep track of this insanity, they WILL need a gun registry!

It used to be that Democrats were cautious during an election year. Not anymore. The ultra-left socialists have taken over the Democrat Party and are no longer cautious. They have put ideology over common sense and the constitution.

NM Anti-Gun Group Flouting Law They Advocated

The wacko ultra-left group, New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence (NMPGV), who has one of the most idiotic radio ads telling people to "store firearms unloaded and secured with effective, child-resistant gun locks in a locked container out of the reach and sight of children.  Store ammunition in a locked place that is separate from the firearm."

Well, if some home invaders decide to target your home, having your guns unloaded and locked up with ammo stored in a separate locked place won't protect you or your family. What will you do? Tell the home invaders to "old on a minute so I can get my gun out and load it"?

Now, it appears they are flouting the law they had advocated.

In a post made on X, formerly Twitter, the anti-gun group New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence (NMPGV), run by Democrats’ anti-gun darling Miranda Viscoli, announced in so many words that it was breaking the law — then kept on digging itself in a hole when challenged.

“Pictured are unwanted firearms from one household in Farmington, NM.  Our gun buyback was [canceled] by the City, but local residents asked us to show up anyway. So, we spent today dismantling guns house by house,” wrote the group, with a photo accompanying the post. The post immediately sparked a fierce response.

“The @NMStatePolice should investigate a private party going door to door and sawing people’s guns in half without doing a background check as required for a transfer in New Mexico.  The @FBI and @ATFHQ (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) should also look into this since a private group does NOT have the ability to check NCIC to see if they are now in possession of a stolen firearm. So many crimes committed by this anti-gun group” posted state Rep. Stefani Lord (R-Sandia Park).
