Today is Lincoln's Birthday.
This is the day that the birth of the 16th president, President Abraham Lincoln, is commemorated. Some states still recognize it as a holiday, while others just observe Presidents' Day.
According to Wikipedia:
Lincoln's Birthday is a public holiday in some U.S. states, observed on the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth on February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, Kentucky. Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, California, Missouri, and New York observe the holiday.
In many other states, Lincoln's birthday is not celebrated separately, as a stand-alone holiday. Instead, Lincoln's birthday is combined with a celebration of President George Washington's birthday (also in February) and celebrated either along with the Federal holiday of Washington's Birthday or as Presidents' Day on the third Monday in February.
History
The earliest known observance of Lincoln's birthday occurred in Buffalo, New York, in either 1873 or 1874. Julius Francis (d. 1881), a Buffalo druggist, made it his life's mission to honor the slain president. He repeatedly petitioned Congress to establish Lincoln's birthday as a legal holiday.

In many areas, the Republican Party commemorates Lincoln's Birthday with Lincoln Day Dinners as Lincoln was the first Republican president.
It looks like the Gallup Poll has a bias against guns as their poll taken before the election is skewed towards gun control.
It is getting so that practically every poll is not to be trusted anymore.
The New American reported:
A month before the November presidential election, Gallup conducted a poll on Second Amendment and firearm issues. Predictably, the group reported that most Americans (56 percent) want more gun-control laws.
A month later, voters went to the polls and voted into office pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment candidates. This included the reelection of Donald Trump with his pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment agenda.
Gallup’s Bias
A close look at Gallup’s methodology of reveals the organization’s bias.

Of all people, he should know how bad Harris was to San Francisco and California as a whole. He was a disaster as governor and he was instrumental in the near-destruction of the Republican Party in California. The state is now essentially a one-party state thanks, to a great extent, to him. That's why the state, known now as Commiefornia, has a mass exodus of people fleeing it.
I then went to the source on the story, The Gateway Pundit, who wrote:
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the self-proclaimed former “Republican” governor who famously barked at Americans opposing draconian COVID restrictions with a blunt “Screw your freedom!” during the COVID-19 pandemic, has endorsed Kamala Harris for president.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, once the iconic “Terminator,” has now rebranded himself as a “capitulator.”
Ignoring the Constitution and principles of conservative Americans, Arnold now parrots the media’s anti-Trump narrative and bashes the party he supposedly represented.
Birds of a feather flock together, right?

The Republican Party of New Mexico issued the following statement on His Fraudulency Joe Biden's withdrawal from the campaign:
ALBUQUERQUE, JULY 21—Today, after weeks of consistently proclaiming he's not dropping out and will be the Democratic nominee, President Joe Biden announced in a statement that he is dropping out of the presidential race. Joe Biden also announced shortly after that he is endorsing Kamala Harris for President.
The Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce issued the following statement in response:
"New Mexico Democrats have been betrayed and lied to by the Democratic Party. Democrats have spent 3 1/2 years claiming Trump will destroy democracy. Now, by forcing Biden out without any legal framework to do so, Democrats have shown they have no respect for democracy and that their criticisms of Trump are simply projection and gaslighting.
"In a desperate bid to hold onto power, the elites have managed to undermine the votes of 111,049 New Mexicans who supported Joe Biden in this year's primary, only to install a new ticket. New Mexico Democrats have been cheated of their voice and the democratic process.
"Yesterday, we saw reports of big donors refusing to fund candidates, including Senator Martin Heinrich, if they didn't call on Biden to drop out of the race. What has become increasingly clear is the Democratic Party favors the opinions of billionaires and party elites over the voices of New Mexicans. This is not the party of democracy. There is nothing White House insiders didn't know about Biden's fitness and ability to lead for at least a year, which they know now. They simply couldn't hide it from the public any longer.
"Today, Biden's handlers also announced that they endorse Kamala Harris for president. Kamala Harris would be just as ineffective as President as she was in her role as the so-called Border Czar. What is clear is Republicans in New Mexico and nationwide are strongly united and enthusiastic about electing President Trump and every Republican up and down the ballot to get our state and country back on a prosperous and secure path."

Last night, I watched the opening night of the Republican National Convention. This brought back memories as I attended three of them as a member of the California Reagan Delegations.
Former President Donald Trump attended the convention with a bandage on his right ear. He sat with his Vice Presidential running mate Sen. J. D. Vance and Tucker Carlson among others.
From The Japan Times:
Former U.S. President Donald Trump made his first public appearance in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, since an assassination attempt — with a large white bandage covering the right ear that a bullet pierced — as Republicans gathered to nominate him as their presidential nominee for the third time in the last eight years.
Trump entered Fiserv Forum on Monday to a standing ovation that lasted several minutes, during the Republican National Committee’s convention.
He walked to a box near his family and stood next to U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance, whom he tapped earlier in the day as his 2024 running mate.

The latest is the removal of a Republican candidate's Facebook page with no explanation, except their usual "community standards" violation bullshit.
According to Piñon Post:
In a recent development that has sparked controversy and debate over freedom of speech on social media platforms, Angelita Mejia, a Republican candidate for the New Mexico House of Representatives, found herself censored by Facebook. Mejia, who is running unopposed in District 58 in Chaves County, had taken to Facebook to announce her candidacy and seek support in the form of ballot petition signatures, a requirement for official candidacy in New Mexico.
Mejia’s campaign and personal Facebook pages were abruptly deactivated within a day of her posting about her campaign and the need for petition signatures. Facebook cited a violation of its “community standards” as the reason for the shutdown but failed to provide a specific explanation for the action. This left Mejia and her campaign in the dark, unable to reach potential supporters through the platform as the crucial deadline for signature submission approached.
Steve Pearce, the Chairman of the Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM), expressed his concern over the incident, calling it an attempt by Facebook to silence a conservative voice. He said, “This is clearly an attempt by Facebook to silence a conservative Republican woman and to prevent her from being able to collect signatures needed to place her name on the ballot for the upcoming primary election.”

| Above, this morning's light dusting. Photo by Armand Vaquer. |
I took a look outside a few minutes ago and we are starting to get a light dusting of snow. I kept tabs on the weather reports for Jamestown and Santa Fe the past several days and decided that it wasn't worth the 185 mile drive in this weather. Truckers on the interstates here don't seem to know how to slow down.
So, two days ago, I contacted the Republican Party of New Mexico and told them I won't be going to the dinner and they have my okay to let someone else use my dinner ticket.
A little while ago, I received a text message on my phone from Nella Domenici, the daughter of former Republican Senator Pete Domenici.
She is announcing her candidacy for U.S. Senate against Martin Heinrich, a radical leftist gun-grabber.
Here's the text message:
New Mexico is not swingy territory. Joe Biden won the state by 10 points in 2020. A Republican has not held a Senate seat there in 15 years. Heinrich won his last reelection in 2018 by more than 30 points.
But her father’s legacy gives the GOP a credible recruit in a region that could not otherwise be in play. And with decades of experience in the finance industry, Domenici comes with a deep fundraising network and willingness to put in some of her own funds. She will give her campaign an initial investment of $500,000.
Domenici brings a powerful name. The late Sen. Pete Domenici was a giant in New Mexico politics. He was first elected to the Senate in 1972, the same year as Biden, and was in office until 2009 — the longest-serving senator in the state’s history. He was known for his work on budget and energy policy and had a prominent bipartisan streak.
“Like my father and mother, I have been a warrior for those who most need an advocate: for women competing in academics or business, for families dealing with mental illness, and for those without access to quality healthcare or education.” Domenici said in a statement shared first with POLITICO.
She also has the backing of the Senate GOP campaign arm, which encouraged her to jump in.
“Nella’s experience at the highest levels of business, commitment to securing our border, and passion for improving education make her a strong candidate to flip this seat,” National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Steve Daines (R-Mont.) said in a statement.

Things are about to get quite interesting in this election year. I just signed her petition to be put on the ballot.
