"We Are Not Cutting Medicaid"

May 30, 2025

“WE ARE NOT CUTTING MEDICAID”

Democrats Voted to spend your Medicaid dollars on illegal immigrants and sex change operations

  • House Democrats voted against the One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which will strengthen and protect Medicaid.

  • Democrats voted to keep spending your Medicaid dollars on illegal immigrants and sex changes, instead of using it to help those most in need of assistance—mothers, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families.

  • Democrats voted against prioritizing American citizens and ending taxpayer-funded health care for 1.4 million illegal immigrants .

    • Medicaid itself reported $543 billion in improper payments, but external analyses show that the true number of improper payments is likely much higher.

    • Even CNN admitted  that the Democrats are lying about the One, Big, Beautiful Bill removing people from their healthcare.

  • Democrats voted to continue allowing taxpayer funds to go toward the mutilation of minors.

    • The One, Big, Beautiful bill is a pro-family and pro-American bill that fights against radical left wing wokeness.

  • Republicans are pushing for work requirements to maintain Medicare benefits to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in our system.

    • Democrats voted against this commonsense requirement.

    • Work requirements would not apply to pregnant women, parents, medically frail individuals and people with substance-abuse disorders, and others.

Republican Party of NM Responds To Governor

Republican Party of New Mexico Responds to Governor Lujan Grisham’s Face the Nation Interview

ALBUQUERQUE, MAY 12—The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) rebukes Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s alarmist claims made on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday, where she resorted to fearmongering about federal Medicaid cuts. While she attempted to paint a dire picture to deflect from her failures, her own secret efforts to divert New Mexico’s tax dollars to healthcare for non-citizens jeopardize Medicaid access for our state’s most vulnerable citizens.

In response, RPNM Chairwoman Amy Barela issued the following statement:

"Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s recent interview on Face the Nation was nothing more than fearmongering dressed up as leadership. What she didn’t say is just as dangerous as what she did. The truth is, New Mexicans are at greater risk today because of this Governor’s continued decision to put illegal immigrants ahead of our own citizens.

Her push to provide taxpayer-funded health insurance for individuals who are here illegally is not only fiscally irresponsible—it’s a slap in the face to hardworking New Mexicans. Our state is already struggling to meet the healthcare needs of its residents, and now we’re being told to stretch an already limited budget even further. This reckless policy threatens to strip deserving citizens of the coverage they rely on.

We need real solutions—not political stunts and federal talking points. It’s time for Governor Lujan Grisham to stop adding to the problem and start putting New Mexicans first."

A recent report revealed that Governor Lujan Grisham attempted to approve a $1.75 million contract as part of a $56 million healthcare expansion program that included services for “undocumented immigrants” funded by state tax dollars. Further scrutiny of this no-bid contract with a close friend and former business partner was halted only after public and media scrutiny.

Lujan Grisham’s warnings of presumed federal Medicaid cuts ring hollow when her own actions prioritize non-citizens over New Mexicans who rely on Medicaid. RPNM calls on the Governor to cease her lies about the federal government and focus her attention on protecting Medicaid for New Mexico's most vulnerable legal citizens.

Gov. MLG Trying To Divert Tax Funds To Illegals

Gov. MLG’s Veto Invites Taxpayer Funded Healthcare For Illegals

RPNM: Gov. MLG’s Veto Opens Door to Taxpayer Funded Healthcare for Illegal Immigrants

ALBUQUERQUE, APRIL 30, 2025—Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s line-item veto on page 94 of the state budget, which eliminated the requirement that major healthcare changes receive legislative approval, is a dangerous move that threatens the future of New Mexico’s healthcare system.

This veto clears the path for the Governor to unilaterally expand taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits to illegal immigrants—without input from the Legislature or the public. If this happens, New Mexico could follow the disastrous model of Minnesota, where illegal immigrant healthcare enrollment exploded costs from $196 million to $550 million, all shouldered by state taxpayers.

The consequences for New Mexico would be devastating. Our already-strained Medicaid system, which serves our most vulnerable citizens—including low-income families, children, seniors, and veterans—would face overwhelming new pressure. Even worse, expanding full benefits to illegal immigrants could violate federal Medicaid rules and risk losing federal matching funds that currently support healthcare for thousands of New Mexicans.

“We must take care of New Mexicans first,” said Chairwoman Amy Barela of the Republican Party of New Mexico. “Our tax dollars must prioritize the needs of those who are here legally, who work hard, serve our country, and contribute to our communities. The Governor’s action could jeopardize healthcare access for every New Mexican who relies on Medicaid today.”

Our veterans, our rural hospitals, and our working families already struggle to get the care they deserve. Diverting limited healthcare resources to illegal immigrants would be an unforgivable betrayal of the people of New Mexico.

Expanding healthcare to illegal immigrants at the expense of our own citizens is reckless, unsustainable, and fundamentally wrong. The Republican Party of New Mexico demands that legislative leaders stand up, restore oversight, and protect New Mexico families before it’s too late. Our future depends on it.

Abe's Day

Above, Abraham Lincoln depicted in a display at the Abraham Lincoln
Presidential Museum in Springfield, Illinois. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Today is Lincoln's Birthday.

This is the day that the birth of the 16th president, President Abraham Lincoln, is commemorated. Some states still recognize it as a holiday, while others just observe Presidents' Day.

According to Wikipedia:

Lincoln's Birthday is a public holiday in some U.S. states, observed on the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth on February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville, Kentucky. Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, California, Missouri, and New York observe the holiday.

In many other states, Lincoln's birthday is not celebrated separately, as a stand-alone holiday. Instead, Lincoln's birthday is combined with a celebration of President George Washington's birthday (also in February) and celebrated either along with the Federal holiday of Washington's Birthday or as Presidents' Day on the third Monday in February.

History

The earliest known observance of Lincoln's birthday occurred in Buffalo, New York, in either 1873 or 1874. Julius Francis (d. 1881), a Buffalo druggist, made it his life's mission to honor the slain president. He repeatedly petitioned Congress to establish Lincoln's birthday as a legal holiday.

In many areas, the Republican Party commemorates Lincoln's Birthday with Lincoln Day Dinners as Lincoln was the first Republican president.

Republican Victory Reveals Gallup Bias Against Guns

It looks like the Gallup Poll has a bias against guns as their poll taken before the election is skewed towards gun control.

It is getting so that practically every poll is not to be trusted anymore.

The New American reported:

A month before the November presidential election, Gallup conducted a poll on Second Amendment and firearm issues. Predictably, the group reported that most Americans (56 percent) want more gun-control laws.

A month later, voters went to the polls and voted into office pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment candidates. This included the reelection of Donald Trump with his pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment agenda.

Gallup’s Bias

A close look at Gallup’s methodology of reveals the organization’s bias.

RINO Schwarzenegger Endorses Harris

This morning, I took note of an article in The Federalist blog that former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

Of all people, he should know how bad Harris was to San Francisco and California as a whole. He was a disaster as governor and he was instrumental in the near-destruction of the Republican Party in California. The state is now essentially a one-party state thanks, to a great extent, to him. That's why the state, known now as Commiefornia, has a mass exodus of people fleeing it.

I then went to the source on the story, The Gateway Pundit, who wrote:

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the self-proclaimed former “Republican” governor who famously barked at Americans opposing draconian COVID restrictions with a blunt “Screw your freedom!” during the COVID-19 pandemic, has endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, once the iconic “Terminator,” has now rebranded himself as a “capitulator.”

Ignoring the Constitution and principles of conservative Americans, Arnold now parrots the media’s anti-Trump narrative and bashes the party he supposedly represented.

Birds of a feather flock together, right?

RPNM Statement on Second Presidential Debate

RPNM Statement on Second Presidential Debate

ALBUQUERQUE, SEPTEMBER 10—The second presidential debate of 2024 was held tonight in Philadelphia, PA, albeit with a different Democratic candidate than the first debate. This debate was the first time former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have met face to face. The questions addressed their stances on the economy, abortion, immigration, foreign policy and healthcare but at times seemed to devolve into questions focused around President Trump. The issues that are most pressing to New Mexicans are the economy, immigration, and crime.

"Tonight, New Mexicans wanted to know which candidate is going to make their groceries cheaper, their border secure, and their communities safe," said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce.

"Both sides executed their points pretty well, but it’s going to come down to will voters believe the utopia Kamala Harris is selling them or what they see. Times are very tough right now and they are about to get tougher. I'm talking to people every day, restaurant owners, and small businesses that may have to close because they can't afford the rent anymore. New Mexico now has the highest poverty rate in the nation, so inflation impacts our citizens more than in any other state.

“Trump is in a stronger position through his policies to stabilize the economy, get wages up, and get costs down. On the other hand, Harris avoided addressing important questions about the economy and dodged the critical question of why Americans feel they are worse off than before the past three and a half years of her administration.

“The underlying question for Harris is why isn’t she already doing the things she is proposing, but, as usual, she did not give voters an answer.

“President Trump spoke directly to New Mexicans who know their neighborhoods have become unsafe and to our border communities who feel abandoned, those whom Harris seemed to laugh about. Harris could not explain why her administration opened the border to this crisis on their day one.

“Trump made it clear that he would protect New Mexico's oil and gas industry, which accounts for thousands of jobs and almost 50% of our state's budget. Harris had a more confusing stance. She twisted herself into a pretzel trying to explain how she supports fracking despite previously saying she wants to ban it, while also saying that her values have not changed.

“President Trump has remained consistent in his policies, and he knows them well. What you get is what you see with Trump. Tonight, we saw a very rehearsed Harris who could repeat talking points but couldn't go beyond when pressed about her past record. New Mexico is in play this year and races up and the ballot will be very competitive. If New Mexicans want to see relief in the core issues they care about—such as inflation, crime, and the border—the clear choice is the Republican ticket."

RPNM: “Comrade Kamala’s” Communist Economic Proposals

RPNM Statement on “Comrade Kamala’s” Communist Economic Proposals

ALBUQUERQUE, AUGUST 16—Today, Kamala Harris unveiled part of her economic plan to combat inflation, but it reads more like it was written by Stalin, Maduro, or Castro than someone running to be President of the United States.

Most concerning was her proposal to target "price gouging" by implementing price controls—a failed economic policy implemented in socialist and communist countries that has had devastating consequences.

Additionally, Harris blamed corporate greed for national price increases, which numerous economists, including the Federal Reserve, have debunked.

Even the traditionally liberal Washington Post criticized her policy as "communist," saying, "It’s hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is" and warned that "supply and demand would no longer determine prices or profit levels. Far-off Washington bureaucrats would."

The reality is Kamala had three and a half years to improve the economy, and she failed. Why would we trust her to do a better job now?

Under Kamala's watch:

  • The average New Mexican household is paying $1,018 more per month to purchase goods and services than in January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household is spending $114 more on energy per month and has spent $4,846 more on energy due to inflation since January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household is spending $131 more on food per month and has spent $3,436 more on food due to inflation since January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household has spent $28,181 more overall due to inflation since January 2021.

  • Nearly half of Americans consider themselves "broke."

  • Nearly two-thirds of Americans report living paycheck-to-paycheck—up 8 points from last year.

  • 61% of Americans believe the economy is on the wrong track and 60% think the economy is weak.

  • Overall prices are up over 20%, food prices are up over 21%, rent is up 22%, and electricity has skyrocketed 31.7%.

  • Credit card debt is at an all-time high.

  • By 2-to-1, Americans believe they will be better off financially under Trump.

Harris and Walz form the most radical left-wing ticket in history, and the chaos we're experiencing in the economy, at the border, and with crime will only get worse if they are elected.

The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce:

"Kamala Harris has proposed communist-style price controls that have historically led to food shortages, bread lines, and economic devastation. Kamala spent the past three and a half years approving massive spending bills that led to printing trillions of dollars, driving up inflation and making everything more expensive. Kamala attributed inflated prices to price gouging when the real problem is her and the economy-killing policies she supported as vice president. During President Trump’s administration, inflation was low, energy was affordable, real wages were rising, and the American Dream was more attainable than ever. New Mexicans are going to remember this at the polls in November."

RPNM Statement On Biden's Address To Nation

RPNM Statement on Biden's Address to the Nation Since Announcing Withdrawal from Presidential Race

ALBUQUERQUE, JULY 24—This evening, President Joe Biden addressed the nation in person after being absent from the public eye for multiple days and since announcing via social media that he was dropping out of the presidential race.

"Tonight, President Biden did not address why he decided to step down from the presidential race or assure Americans that he is fit to carry out the rest of his term," said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce.

"President Biden attempted to solidify his legacy tonight, but it fell flat for New Mexicans, many of whom find themselves worse off than before he took office. What was particularly dishonest was Biden's talk about saving democracy after the Democratic Party discarded New Mexicans' primary vote to install a new presidential ticket."

The questions we're still left with are:

  • Was Biden's mental and physical fitness the reason for his sudden withdrawal, despite his consistent claims that he was staying in the race?

  • Why is Biden withdrawing from the race now, just 100 days before the election and after the primary?

  • Why won't Biden step down from his presidency if he is not physically and mentally fit to run for president?

  • How do the NM Democratic candidates justify staunchly supporting Joe Biden and lying about his fitness for office until his disastrous debate performance sunk his rating in the polls?

RPNM Statement On Biden

The Republican Party of New Mexico issued the following statement on His Fraudulency Joe Biden's withdrawal from the campaign:

ALBUQUERQUE, JULY 21—Today, after weeks of consistently proclaiming he's not dropping out and will be the Democratic nominee, President Joe Biden announced in a statement that he is dropping out of the presidential race. Joe Biden also announced shortly after that he is endorsing Kamala Harris for President.

The Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce issued the following statement in response:

"New Mexico Democrats have been betrayed and lied to by the Democratic Party. Democrats have spent 3 1/2 years claiming Trump will destroy democracy. Now, by forcing Biden out without any legal framework to do so, Democrats have shown they have no respect for democracy and that their criticisms of Trump are simply projection and gaslighting.

"In a desperate bid to hold onto power, the elites have managed to undermine the votes of 111,049 New Mexicans who supported Joe Biden in this year's primary, only to install a new ticket. New Mexico Democrats have been cheated of their voice and the democratic process.

"Yesterday, we saw reports of big donors refusing to fund candidates, including Senator Martin Heinrich, if they didn't call on Biden to drop out of the race. What has become increasingly clear is the Democratic Party favors the opinions of billionaires and party elites over the voices of New Mexicans. This is not the party of democracy. There is nothing White House insiders didn't know about Biden's fitness and ability to lead for at least a year, which they know now. They simply couldn't hide it from the public any longer.

"Today, Biden's handlers also announced that they endorse Kamala Harris for president. Kamala Harris would be just as ineffective as President as she was in her role as the so-called Border Czar. What is clear is Republicans in New Mexico and nationwide are strongly united and enthusiastic about electing President Trump and every Republican up and down the ballot to get our state and country back on a prosperous and secure path."

Trump Attends RNC Opening Night

Above, former President Donald Trump with Tucker Carlson (left) and Sen. J. D. Vance. Screenshot by Armand Vaquer.

Last night, I watched the opening night of the Republican National Convention. This brought back memories as I attended three of them as a member of the California Reagan Delegations.

Former President Donald Trump attended the convention with a bandage on his right ear. He sat with his Vice Presidential running mate Sen. J. D. Vance and Tucker Carlson among others.

From The Japan Times:

Former U.S. President Donald Trump made his first public appearance in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, since an assassination attempt — with a large white bandage covering the right ear that a bullet pierced — as Republicans gathered to nominate him as their presidential nominee for the third time in the last eight years.

Trump entered Fiserv Forum on Monday to a standing ovation that lasted several minutes, during the Republican National Committee’s convention.

He walked to a box near his family and stood next to U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance, whom he tapped earlier in the day as his 2024 running mate.

Facebook Accused of Silencing NM GOP Candidate

Above, GOP candidate Angelita Mejia.

It looks like Facebook is gearing up to interfere in the 2024 election campaign.

The latest is the removal of a Republican candidate's Facebook page with no explanation, except their usual "community standards" violation bullshit.

According to Piñon Post:

In a recent development that has sparked controversy and debate over freedom of speech on social media platforms, Angelita Mejia, a Republican candidate for the New Mexico House of Representatives, found herself censored by Facebook. Mejia, who is running unopposed in District 58 in Chaves County, had taken to Facebook to announce her candidacy and seek support in the form of ballot petition signatures, a requirement for official candidacy in New Mexico.

Mejia’s campaign and personal Facebook pages were abruptly deactivated within a day of her posting about her campaign and the need for petition signatures. Facebook cited a violation of its “community standards” as the reason for the shutdown but failed to provide a specific explanation for the action. This left Mejia and her campaign in the dark, unable to reach potential supporters through the platform as the crucial deadline for signature submission approached.

Steve Pearce, the Chairman of the Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM), expressed his concern over the incident, calling it an attempt by Facebook to silence a conservative voice. He said, “This is clearly an attempt by Facebook to silence a conservative Republican woman and to prevent her from being able to collect signatures needed to place her name on the ballot for the upcoming primary election.”

Staying Home

Above, this morning's light dusting. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

It was a good thing that I cancelled going to Santa Fe for tonight's GOP legislative dinner.

I took a look outside a few minutes ago and we are starting to get a light dusting of snow. I kept tabs on the weather reports for Jamestown and Santa Fe the past several days and decided that it wasn't worth the 185 mile drive in this weather. Truckers on the interstates here don't seem to know how to slow down.

So, two days ago, I contacted the Republican Party of New Mexico and told them I won't be going to the dinner and they have my okay to let someone else use my dinner ticket.

Nella Domenici Announces U.S. Senate Candidacy

A little while ago, I received a text message on my phone from Nella Domenici, the daughter of former Republican Senator Pete Domenici.

She is announcing her candidacy for U.S. Senate against Martin Heinrich, a radical leftist gun-grabber.

Here's the text message:

According to Politico:

New Mexico is not swingy territory. Joe Biden won the state by 10 points in 2020. A Republican has not held a Senate seat there in 15 years. Heinrich won his last reelection in 2018 by more than 30 points.

But her father’s legacy gives the GOP a credible recruit in a region that could not otherwise be in play. And with decades of experience in the finance industry, Domenici comes with a deep fundraising network and willingness to put in some of her own funds. She will give her campaign an initial investment of $500,000.

Domenici brings a powerful name. The late Sen. Pete Domenici was a giant in New Mexico politics. He was first elected to the Senate in 1972, the same year as Biden, and was in office until 2009 — the longest-serving senator in the state’s history. He was known for his work on budget and energy policy and had a prominent bipartisan streak.

“Like my father and mother, I have been a warrior for those who most need an advocate: for women competing in academics or business, for families dealing with mental illness, and for those without access to quality healthcare or education.” Domenici said in a statement shared first with POLITICO.

She also has the backing of the Senate GOP campaign arm, which encouraged her to jump in.

“Nella’s experience at the highest levels of business, commitment to securing our border, and passion for improving education make her a strong candidate to flip this seat,” National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Steve Daines (R-Mont.) said in a statement.

To reach her campaign website, go here: https://www.nellaforsenate.com/

Things are about to get quite interesting in this election year. I just signed her petition to be put on the ballot.
