This really hits hard.
I just read some sad news that was posted last night at our community Facebook page:
I have just been notified that Janice, the post mistress at Pilot, has passed on because of the Covid virus. The family is planning on bringing her back to Gallup from Phoenix where she was hospitalized. Margaret E-S has a card if you desire to sign it. It will be given to the family.
Janice Casamelo was in charge of our little post office at the Flying J and contracted coronavirus two weeks ago. She lived in the Mariano Lake area of the Navajo Nation.
She had a great sense of humor and did her post office duties very well. When my painting of the mesas arrived from St. Petersburg, Russia, she laughingly asked me if I ordered a door due to the wooden packaging.
She will be greatly missed by our community.
