Fossil With Skin Uncovered From the Asteroid’s Earth-Shattering Strike

A fossil with skin from a dinosaur that is well-preserved has been found. It also is further proof that a mass extinction of the dinosaurs were caused by a meteor or asteroid hitting the Gulf of Mexico.

Scientists have just made a mind-blowing discovery: a fossil dating back to the day the asteroid caused the mass extinction hit the Earth 66 million years ago. Found in North Dakota, it includes the leg of a thescelosaurus, complete with skin still intact! This dino fossil is so well-preserved, that it looks better than I do after a full night’s sleep. It’s an incredible find that everyone in the science world is talking or doubting about.

Fossilized Alien Corpses Presented to Mexican Congress

We are not alone.

Well, if the following is to be believed, we aren't the only ones to inhabit the universe.

From American Wire News:

A Mexican journalist and ufologist presented the alleged corpses of two 1,000-year-old mummified aliens to the Mexican Congress in glass display cases Tuesday during the government’s first hearing on UFOs.

“They are non-human beings that are not part of our terrestrial evolution,” journalist and ufologist Jaime Maussan testified under oath before the Mexican Congress.

The two small corpses appeared to have three fingers on each hand, unknown DNA, and eggs inside one of them, according to the Daily Mail. The bodies seemed to have retractable necks and elongated skulls that are more typical of birds. They were also found to have strong, light bones and no teeth according to the presenter.

The ufologist claimed that researchers at the Autonomous National University of Mexico had already conducted Carbon 14 analysis on the bodies verifying their age. The bodies were reportedly found in mines in Cusco, Peru. They were allegedly buried in diatomaceous earth, or ancient phytoplankton algae.

“These aren’t beings that were found after a UFO wreckage. They were found in diatom mines and were later fossilized,” he claimed. “Whether they are aliens or not, we don’t know, but they were intelligent, and they lived with us. They should rewrite history… We are not alone in this vast universe, we should embrace this reality.”

Petrified Forest National Park Photos

Now that I'm home from Arizona, I uploaded the photos I took with my Canon camera of Petrified Forest National Park.

The park is off Interstate 40 and is easily accessible. It is not one of the larger parks, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Petrified Forest National Park: Fossil-Finding Via Satellite

Along with ancient forests, Petrified Forest National Park has been a source for fossils over the years.

A new tool, satellites, can potentially aid paleontologists in finding areas that may contain fossils.

According to the Sedona Red Rock News:

Satellite imagery has the potential to assist paleontologists in focusing their efforts where to look for new fossil discoveries and help land managers monitor paleontological resources according to new research conducted at Petrified Forest National Park by the University of Oregon published in the journal Geological Magazine in November.

“The potential applications of finding fossil-rich areas using chemical differences visible from space are limitless,” said PEFO paleontologist Adam Marsh in a recent email. ”It could help us identify particularly sensitive areas to protect in the park and also those that might be more scientifically significant for our research.” 

This is the first time researchers have attempted to locate individual fossils on the landscape while previous works focused on looking for outcrops for fossil excavation. The project’s goal is to be able to get huge areas mapped using satellites, so people don’t have to physically set foot in those areas to reduce workloads and increase worker safety according to UO paleontologist Edward Davis.

Biggest Tyrannosaurus Rex Discovered

Here's one for you dinosaur fans!

The biggest tyrannosaurus rex had been discovered in Saskatchewan, Canada in 1991. More details on the creature has been revealed in an article from National Geographic.

They wrote:

A fossil site in Canada has yielded the heaviest Tyrannosaurus rex specimen ever found—an animal that weighed an estimated 19,500 pounds in life, far heftier than most elephants alive today. 

The dinosaur, unveiled last week in The Anatomical Record, consists of a skeleton that's about 65 percent complete, including the skull and hips along with some of its ribs, leg bones, and tail bones. Nicknamed “Scotty,” the tyrannosaur was a senior by this species' standards, making it to at least the age of 28. 

Some 68 million years ago, the Canadian landscape Scotty knew was a subtropical coastal paradise—but life was no vacation. The dinosaur's remains include a broken and healed rib, a massive growth of bone in between two teeth—a sign of infection—and broken tailbones possibly maimed by another tyrannosaur's bite.

Tyrannosauridae Teeth Fossils Found In Nagasaki

The Mainichi Shimbun has posted an interesting story on the finding of two dinosaur teeth fossils in Nagasaki Prefecture.

According to the article:

FUKUI (Kyodo) -- Two fossilized teeth of what could be the largest carnivorous dinosaur that existed in Japan have been found from a layer of earth some 81 million years old in Nagasaki, the city and a Fukui prefectural museum said Tuesday. 

The teeth belonging to the dinosaur, estimated to be about 10 meters long, are the first fossils of a large dinosaur among the Tyrannosauridae family to be found in Japan, according to the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum. 

"Other fossils have been found in Nagasaki as well, leading us to reaffirm that various dinosaurs existed there," said Kazunori Miyata, chief researcher at the museum. 

The teeth fossils were unearthed in May 2014 from the same area but whether they belong to the same individual remains unclear, the museum said.

Beginning Friday, the fossils will be put on display at the Nagasaki Science Museum and replicas at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum.

Dinosaur Tooth Fragments Found In Nagasaki

The Japan Times reported that three fossilized dinosaur tooth fragments have been found in Nagasaki Prefecture.

They wrote:

FUKUI – Three fossilized dinosaur tooth fragments have been discovered in a layer of earth 81 million years old in Nagasaki Prefecture, researchers said Monday. 

One of the three is from an ankylosaur, a bony-plated herbivore from the Upper Cretaceous period, estimated to be 5 to 8 meters in length, the joint team from the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and the city of Nagasaki’s board of education said.

The other two tooth fragments came from carnivorous dinosaurs, but those haven't been identified as yet. A Godzillasaurus maybe?

Dinosaur Fossils

This morning, I wandered into a coin shop in Tarzana and saw some dinosaur fossils on display and for sale. I immediately thought of Donald F. "Dinosaur Don" Glut, who collected dinosaur fossils and memorabilia.
