When my family took a cruise to Alaska back in 2001, my mom left a cash tip for the steward for our room.
Since then, I've noticed that gratuities are added to the cost of the cruise before one even steps on board. But, if one still wants to, an extra cash gratuity may be left in the room just before vacating it.
Southern Living posted an article on whether you should tip on a cruise.
They begin it with:
