New Roof

Above, the new roof. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The roofers arrived around 9:00 this morning and immediately got to work. They brought their equipment in through the back gate. It was a good thing I cut down the overgrown brush in the backyard weeks ago.

Within an hour or so, they had the old shingles off and installed the cap layer. Within a few hours later, they got the new shingles mostly installed. It started sprinkling in the afternoon, so it was good they got the new roof on.

They will likely finish up tomorrow.

House For Sale

While driving around the community today, I spotted a for sale sign in front of a house on Whispering Cedars Road at Birch Road. It is directly across from what some wags call "The Schumacher Convention Center". 😜

A little while ago, I took a drive and took some photos of the house. From the outside, it looks to be in good shape. I was unable to see the inside.

Here they are (the last photo has the phone number):

Cut Down A Tree

For the past two years (maybe longer), a small pinyon pine tree in front of the house bay windows was slowly dying from bark beetles. These beetles have been killing many pinyon pines in the area. Several neighbors have lost several trees from these invaders.

Yesterday, I got tired of looking at the brown, dead tree and decided to cut it down. Luckily, I have some saws that got the job done.

Here's some before and after photos:

This Morning's Snow

Since I had to take the trash out a little while ago and was all bundled up for it, I took some pictures of this morning's snow.

It is already melting (it is about 33° outside) and will probably be mostly gone by noon. I didn't have to shovel the walkways as the snow already melted away from them.
