New Mexico House Speaker Brian Egolf is ignoring it. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is claiming that most who are signatories are from out-of state. But the fact remains that as of this writing, over 41,100 people angry with the Governor have signed a petition calling for Grisham's impeachment for withdrawing national guard troops from the New Mexico border with Mexico.
How does Grisham know that signatories are from outside of New Mexico? Does she have access to the petition's server?
People signing the online petition are well aware that the Democrat House Speaker would ignore it and not call for impeachment proceedings, but ignoring the citizens of New Mexico is done at their own peril. Egolf said this about the petition, "No way, forget about it."
The population of New Mexico is 2.088 million. The number of signers amounts to 2% of New Mexico's population and more are signing.
The original goal was for 35,000. That was met yesterday. Now the goal is 50,000.
Governor Grisham had better take heed of the feelings of her constituents. If she thinks that Michael Bloomberg's money carries more weight than 2% of New Mexico's population, she is in for a very rude awakening. The same goes to House Speaker Egolf. No matter how you slice it, they have a major political problem.
If you are a citizen of New Mexico and want to sign the petition, go here.
