It looks like we're going to be hit with winter conditions again as a storm system is arriving in New Mexico today.
According to the
Santa Fe New Mexican:
Inclement weather is expected to return to Northern New Mexico this week, with thunderstorms and high-elevation snow continuing into Thursday.
“Substantial snowfall” is expected above 9,000 feet Monday and Tuesday, according to predictions from the National Weather Service’s Albuquerque office. Lower elevations — 6,000 feet and up — are likely to see snow Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
Since Jamestown is around 6,400 feet (my house is actually at 7,000 feet), it looks like tonight may be a snowy one.
But, according to the National Weather Service, maybe we'll just get showers:
Overnight
A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. South wind around 10 mph.
Monday
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Monday Night
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph becoming southeast in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 48. Southeast wind around 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
