Movie-Watching and The Weather

Above, yesterday's view of the mesas. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Thank God the gusty winds we had during the past two days are over. I have to do some grocery shopping today in Gallup and really didn't want to do it while the winds were gusting.

But, the winds have died down to normal levels, but it is going to be a cold day today.

Today's forecast from the National Weather Service:

Overnight
Isolated snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. West wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday
Partly sunny, with a high near 37. West wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north in the afternoon.
Thursday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 16. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast after midnight.

Last night, I watched two John Wayne westerns that arrived in the mail this week. The first was The Train Robbers, which featured Ann-Margret, Rod Taylor and Ben Johnson. It was one of Duke's later movies (1973). I hadn't seen it since it first was released to theaters. While it was enjoyable, especially the interactions between Johnson and Taylor, I thought Ann-Margret didn't have much to do. IMDb Trivia: John Wayne's and Ann-Margret's character names, "Lane" and "Mrs. Lowe," are the same as Wayne's and Geraldine Page's characters' names in Hondo (1953). I noticed that right off.

The second was Three Godfathers (1948), directed by John Ford. It featured Ward Bond, Ben Johnson, Pedro Armendáriz and Harry Carey, Jr. It had been years since I last saw this movie and I was surprised to see that it was in color. I always thought it was a black & white movie. Maybe I saw it on a black & white television set. An enjoyable movie.
