While during our school years (grammar, junior and senior high school), we've seen many a film during class. Some were memorable, but most were not. One of the most memorable audio/visual films shown during my school years was by NBC News's Project Twenty.
The film was "The Real West" and it was hosted by actor Gary Cooper. "The Real West" was produced in 1960 (Cooper worked on it in December 1960) and I remember seeing it at least twice. It is also noteworthy in a sad way: it was the last appearance of Gary Cooper, who died on May 13, 1961.
"The Real West" is the real story of "the wild west", "debunking the glamour and contrived romanticism of network series and Hollywood films" (from the DVD case back cover). If one is a history buff, particularly of the "wild west", this documentary is the one to get.
My grade: A.
