Above, my blog's ClusterMaps shows no view hits (red dots) in Russia or China this month. |
Russia is serious about banning Meta social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
Russian President Vladimir Putin enacted the bans and the Russian court has upheld the bans, referring to those sites as "extremist".
According to Reuters:
March 21 (Reuters) - A Russian court on Monday banned Facebook and Instagram in the country after finding Meta Platforms Inc (FB.O) "extremist", TASS news agency reported.
Russia has already banned Facebook for restricting access to Russian media while Instagram was blocked after Meta said it would allow social media users in Ukraine to post messages urging violence against Russian President Vladimir Putin and troops Moscow sent into Ukraine on Feb. 24.
Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
It is interesting to see the total lack of any views (red dots) of my blog posts from Russia on my ClusterMaps hit map. Each red dot represents at least one view hit, most are multiple view hits.
Normally, I get quite a number of view hits from Russia.
It is also interesting that there's none in China either, even though they said they aren't taking sides in the Russia-Ukraine war. Right.
