When 2022 began, it was my plan to head up into eastern Wyoming and the Black Hills of South Dakota for this year's summer camping trip.
However, inflationary gasoline prices made me change my plans to go somewhere closer to home. My ex-roommate and I headed to Durango, Colorado and Navajo Lake State Park in New Mexico instead. Both were within a half day's drive from home.
I also took some shorter camping trips to Ridgway/Ouray, Colorado and Monument Valley when gas prices further moderated.

The November report indicates camping remains a popular mode of travel amid volatile economic conditions.
