Yesterday, while heading down to the Flying J for our morning coffee gathering at Denny's I spotted a couple of notices on the community bulletin board.
I stopped and took a look. They were notices that there will be missile launches taking place and that Cibola National Forest (which is behind our community) will be totally closed during the launch windows (a launch took place yesterday morning around 6:30, according to a neighbor). The next launch window begins on February 26. The national forest is in the flight paths of the missiles.
Usually, when missile launches take place in New Mexico, they launch from White Sands Missile Range and/or from a launch area in Fort Wingate (yes, there's a missile facility still in operation at Fort Wingate).
