The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in Colorado is now on a two-week hiatus as they prepare for the winter season.

Over at Facebook, they posted:

Friends, [November 7] is the last day to ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad's Cascade Canyon Express before we take our traditional two-week fall break and then transition to our are fall/winter/early spring Cascade Canyon season and always-bustling holiday period featuring THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride!

On the Cascade Canyon Express, you'll experience the #DurangoTrain's world-famous iconic vistas along the High Line in just over two hours. If you're after an unforgettable train adventure with incredible geological features and fantastic scenery that is downright jaw-dropping, look no further than these excursions departing from our Rockwood Station and traveling deep into the wilderness inaccessible by any roads.

Need some extra incentive? You can also take advantage of discounts for children, local residents, and current/former military personnel at http://www.durangotrain.com/hot-deals. Awesome!

For more information and to purchase tickets, visit https://bit.ly/2JwxlmL, or call the #DurangoTrain reservations team at 877-872-4607!

The winter trains begin running on November 20.

This reminds me of my trip to Metropolis, Illinois back in November 2016. I stopped in Durango and found the trains on hiatus. So I just stayed one night in Durango and pressed on to Monument Valley and stayed there an extra day.
