Over the years, I have read in various RV forums that some dealers will refuse to do warranty work on RVs not purchased there, even though the make of the RV is the same a the brand(s) the dealership sells and services.
Their attitude is, "We only do warranty work on RVs purchased here."
This has not been a problem for me as I bought my Winnebago from La Mesa RV in San Diego and there's a La Mesa RV in Albuquerque.
RV Travel discusses why some dealerships refuse to do warranty work for units not purchased from them.
They begin with:
You bought a new RV and you got a great deal out of state. But now you have a few things wrong with it and so you take it to the corner dealership where you saw the RV the first time. Now they’re saying they won’t work on it. What’s going on? Are they trying to rip you off?
Actually, this is fully legitimate and well within the agreement between the manufacturers and the dealership. So what’s going on?
