Special Weather Statement Issued

Above, the aftermath of a snowstorm in February 2018. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

It looks like the possibility of snow showers will be headed our way tomorrow night.

I mentioned this to the gang at coffee this morning and most hadn't heard of the possibility of snow coming. According to the National Weather Service, the possibility of precipitation (rain, snow) is at 30%. At least for now.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement:

...WINTER WEATHER FOR PORTIONS OF NM SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY...

A strong weather system will move across northern and central NM
Sunday night and Monday with much colder temperatures, stronger
winds, areas of snow, blowing snow, and potential winter travel
impacts. There is still some uncertainty with regard to snowfall
intensity and location of greatest impacts. However, this system
will be a quick-hitter and overall snowfall amounts are expected
to be light with the focus over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and
northeast plains of NM. A period of strong north winds with snow
and blowing snow may create low visibility and hazardous travel
conditions Monday morning, especially along U.S. Highway 64 from
Clayton to Raton, portions of Interstate 25 from Raton to Las
Vegas, and parts of Interstate 40 from Clines Corners to Santa
Rosa and Tucumcari. Stay tuned for the latest forecast updates
and additional Winter Weather Advisories.
