A bill to regulate car tires was passed by the California Legislature 20 years ago but never implemented.

“The California Energy Commission dusted off a 20+ year old bill to pass new rules restricting tire sales in the state,” KCRA’s Ashley Zavala reported Monday. “The CEC has not regulated tires before. I asked Commissioner (former State Sen) Nancy Skinner if she pushed it & why this sat dormant until now.”

Assembly Bill 844 “directs the California Energy Commission to adopt a Replacement Tire Efficiency Program to ensure replacement tires for passenger cars and light-duty trucks sold in California are at least as energy-efficient as the tires sold as original equipment on new vehicles.”

Skinner justified the decision by the California Energy Commission “we regulate appliances, tires are kind of like that.”

Nancy Skinner is the same lawmaker who tried to ban “Bullets, the very thing that make guns deadly,” she said in a hearing in 2013 I reported on. When she couldn’t ban guns, she tried to ban bullets.

In 2013, Assembly Bill 48 by then-Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) passed the Assembly by a 46-26 vote and moved over to the state Senate.

Her bill would have banned the sale of magazine parts kits that can hold more than 10 cartridges, and require mandatory reporting of law-abiding citizens who purchase more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition within a five-day period.

So naturally, when she can’t get you out of your car and onto public transit, she will make tires more expensive and difficult to get.

Wyoming Introduces Bill To Ban All New Electric Car Sales

One state is pushing back against California's ban on new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035. The ban was adopted by the state's one-party left-wing government.

The state senate of Wyoming has introduced a bill banning the sale of new electric vehicles by 2035. It is the exact opposite of California's law. The "Cowboy State" relies heavily on natural resource extraction and the energy sector for their economy.

No, this isn't from the Babylon Bee.

The California Globe reported:

A new bill introduced in the Wyoming Senate earlier this week proposes to ban the sale of new electric cars by 2035, serving as a direct opposite law, and push back against California’s own law to ban the sale of new gas powered vehicles starting in 2035.

First brought forward as an executive order by Governor Gavin Newsom in 2020, then later formally approved last year, the 2035 law aims to drastically cut back emissions in California as well other states that have passed near carbon-copy laws following California, including Washington State, Massachusetts, and New York. With a growing fleet of electric vehicles, along with more renewable energy sources to help power them, the overall goal is to phase out fossil fuel needs in the coming decades due to climate change and environmental issues.

However, in Wyoming, the state heavily relies on natural resource extraction and the energy sector for their economy. The bill is said to “ensure the stability” of its oil and gas industry.

15.7% of Wyoming’s workforce is tied to the energy sector, with a major disruption, such as California’s 2035 electric car phase out plan and lessening their reliance on fossil fuels, standing the severely cripple the state’s economy in the coming years. Even worse for Wyoming, 59% of Wyoming’s in-state revenue comes from fossil fuels, meaning that the 2035 law and ones similar to it can not only sink Wyoming’s economy, they can also potentially halve Wyoming’s sources of income.

Good for Wyoming! I hope the bill passes and is signed into law.

CA Senate Bill Seeks To Kill Gun Shows

Where do they find these idiots?

A freshman Democrat California state senator is targeting gun shows held on public property.

California Globe reported:

Earlier this week, a new bill that would end all guns shows on public property received committee assignment, ensuring that it would be heard before the Senate Public Safety Committee this year.

Senate Bill 264, authored by freshman Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine), would specifically prohibit state officers or employees, as well as any operator or licensee of state property, from allowing the sale of firearms or ammunition on state property. Law enforcement agencies would get a an exemption to SB 264 in the form of gun buyback events.

While the bill did not give any specifics to fines or other punishments should there be a violation, SB 264 did note that there would consequences of sorts.

Senator Min authored the bill largely to stop a “tragic cycle of gun violence” that comes from deadly shooting in the US each year, and specifically targeted to end the Crossroads of the West Gun Show held several times each year at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. Min claims that the shows offer a “gun show loophole” that allows the sale of illegal firearms, such as those without serial numbers.

There is no "gun show loophole". In order to buy a gun at a gun show legally, people have to submit to a background check there, just as they do when purchasing at a gun store and pick it later if they pass. If Senator Min thinks otherwise, then he's an idiot. (I've told him so.)
