RV Life: 6 Best Albuquerque RV Parks and Campgrounds

Albuquerque is the biggest city in New Mexico. If one is headed east on Interstate 40, it is very hard to avoid.

There's much to see in do in Albuquerque and it boasts several RV parks.

RV Life has posted a list of 6 "best" Albuquerque RV parks and campgrounds. Of the six, I have stayed at two of them, one most recently as a week ago.

I am surprised that Route 66 RV Resort is not on the list as it is Good Sam's only 10/10/10 rated New Mexico RV park.

Heat Advisory

Leaving the high heat of Albuquerque today did not bring any relief from the heat wave the state has been experiencing.

Currently, it is around 100° in Albuquerque and 95° in Jamestown, New Mexico. At least that's according to the National Weather Service. We're under a Heat Advisory. Thank goodness The Beast has air conditioning. The roof and dash air conditioners got a good workout this trip.

The rest of the week looks to be equally as warm with some slight chances of thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service:

Mostly clear, with a low around 58. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast after midnight.

Tuesday

Sunny, with a high near 96. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night

Isolated thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming south after midnight. Little or no precipitation expected.

Wednesday

A slight chance of thunderstorms after noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 95. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Little or no precipitation expected.

Wednesday Night

A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the evening.

After a good night's sleep, I got up to find that the Enchanted Trails RV Park was about 90% full. They all must have come in overnight.

Well, who can blame them? The park charges (with a Good Sam discount) $30/night for full hook-ups (water, electric & sewer).

My next-door neighbor (from Texas) left only moments before taking the photo above from their campsite.

A Stroll In Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post

A little while ago, I took a stroll around the Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post. It is pretty hot outside. According to the weather app on my phone, it is 100° outside.

It is a nice park just a few miles west of Albuquerque. It has a nice setting with plenty of shade trees. The pool is obviously closed for it is empty.

There's some vintage automobiles and travel trailers on display. To see the interiors of the trailers, all one has to do is ask for the keys in the office. 

Next door to the RV park, is Camping World. It is a short walking distance away. Handy, eh?

Trying Out Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post

Since I have some business to attend to tomorrow morning in Albuquerque, I arrived in the city today and staying over at the Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post, which is nine miles closer to town than Route 66 RV Resort.

I decided to give this RV park a try. Normally, I stay at Route 66, but their casino security staff annoyed me the last couple of times I was there. I had to tell a couple of them off during one incident. They should learn how to treat regular customers better. The RV Resort staff even shook their heads over their behavior.

Right now, nobody from out-of-state is allowed inside the casino (not even to dine at Thunder Road Steakhouse & Cantina and other restaurants inside). Just citizens of New Mexico are allowed inside. This is the edict of the Laguna Pueblo tribe's (who owns the casino, hotel and RV resort) tribal leaders. 

Mitch Geriminsky (from Arizona) and I were going to dine at Thunder Road, but they would not allow him inside, despite him being with me. So we went into town and ate at Applebee's. Their loss. Smacks of discrimination. 

So far, I like Enchanted Trails.
