There are some things that gun owners can do with their guns. There are also some things that gun owners should not do.

One thing they should do is to have a good gunsmith. 

I made use of a gunsmith at Loeffler's Guns Etc. in Grants, New Mexico a few years ago. He knew what he was doing and was reasonably priced. I would use him again, if need be, as I was pleased with his work.
