Drive To Red Rock Park

For the heck of it, I took a little drive (about 9 miles) to Red Rock Park to see if I can reserve a campsite at their campground for the upcoming (a week from today) hot-air balloon festival. Some of the launches will take place near the campground, so it would be an ideal location to watch and photograph the balloons.

Unfortunately, the staff is on their little Thanksgiving break and the office for reservations is closed. I did make inquiries at the Church Rock Post Office at Red Rock Park and they said a guy in a truck marked "City of Gallup" drives around collecting camping fees and to just find a campsite. The post office is a short walk from the campground.

I guess I will check back on Monday.

While in the post office, I did notice a plaque that said the post office opened in 1986 during Ronald Reagan's administration. It is a nice little post office, sort of on the rustic side.
