Red Rock Balloon Rally: All Set

Above, Red Rock Park Campground. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Weather permitting (especially wind), the Red Rock Balloon Rally will be happening this weekend.

I managed to secure a campsite today at the Red Rock Park Campground. They called me this morning and I went there and paid for it and got my campsite picked out. If all goes as hoped, I will be in a good spot to watch the balloon ascension as the balloons are launched next to the campground. Even if the weather prevents the ascension, it will be nice to try out the campground. It's only $22/night for full hook-ups.

When I say "weather permitting", it is due to the forecast of rain and snow showers during the balloon rally. (Fingers crossed!)

According to the National Weather Service:

Thursday
Partly sunny, with a high near 51.
Thursday Night
A chance of rain showers before 11pm, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Friday
A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 38. Breezy.
Friday Night
Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21.
Saturday
Partly sunny, with a high near 40.
Saturday Night
A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20.
Sunday
A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 42.

My family and I didn't know you could camp there! That's very cool. Maybe next year we will camp. We will be driving out there. We hope the weather favors us and that the balloons go up Saturday.
