This evening, I was relieved to see the new bulb (a 100 watt LED) came on in the front yard lamp.
I was concerned that it may have been something more than a burned out bulb since the old one was one of those compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) with mercury in the loops, which are supposed to last a long time. I didn't want to get another one of those. The LED looks like the old-fashioned incandescent light bulbs.
The LED appears to be as bright as the old CFL.
When I installed it, I had the clean out the inside of the fixture since the was a layer of dead bugs on the bottom. How they got in is a mystery since the fixture is glass enclosed.
