"Animal House" Released 47 Years Ago (July 28, 1978)

Yeeouch! It is hard to believe that the 1978 comedy classic, Animal House was released 47 years ago (as of July 28). 

Singer Stephen Bishop posted the following at X:

Animal House was released 47 years ago today. I wrote and sang the theme song, along with another track in the film called ‘Dream Girl.’ And yes, I’m the guy on the stairs whose guitar gets smashed by John Belushi. Donald Sutherland Dies At 88

Actor Donald Sutherland has died. He was 88.

According to the Daily Caller:

Legendary actor, Donald Sutherland, died at the age of 88.

His death was confirmed by his son, Kiefer Sutherland, in brief messages shared online, June 20.

“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” Kiefer wrote. “I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that,” he said. Kiefer concluded his message by writing, “A life well lived.”

I first took notice of Sutherland in the Clint Eastwood war flick, Kelly's Heroes (1969). He had appeared in other favorite movies such as Animal House and Space Cowboys (again with Eastwood).

Harold Ramis Dies At 69

Sad news that comedian, director and writer Harold Ramis passed away at age 69.

My first thought was, "I didn't know he was that old!" Then it occurred to me that he was only nine years older than me. Still, 69 is not that old (I can say that now, eh?) in this day and age.

It is hard to believe that Ghostbusters was released in 1984, thiry years ago. Thirty years?! Yeesh!

Ramis had a hand in many of the comedy classics of the 1970s and 1980s including Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, the aforementioned Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day.

It appears that the much-talked-about Ghostbusters III will be proceeding anyway. It was reported that Ramis's role was to be limited and that the focus would be on a new generation of Ghostbusters.

R.I.P., Harold Ramis.

The Nine Worst Cinematic Portrayals of College Life

An interesting item showed up in the mailbox this morning.

It is, "The Nine Worst Cinematic Portrayals of College Life" in the movies.  It's an interesting list.  Before getting into the list, the article starts with:
