Reports of Voter Intimidation In Otero County

Some election officials are already pulling some shenanigans (I could use a stronger term) during early voting in New Mexico. The following is allegedly happening in Otero County.

According to an article in the Piñon Post:

Tuesday is Election Day, and there are some reports already of voter intimidation during early voting that concluded on Saturday. 

According to elections expert Erin Clements, Otero County Clerk Robin Holmes “is telling her poll workers that if voters want to use their own blue pen to fill out their ballots… to WRITE DOWN THEIR NAMES AND REFER THEM TO THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY,” adding, “That’s  VOTER INTIMIDATION from a public official!”

According to NMSA 1-12-57, “After marking and preparing a paper ballot in a polling place, the voter: A. shall not show it to any person in the polling place in such a way as to reveal its contents; And B. shall feed the paper ballot into the electronic vote tabulator.” 

Therefore, the poll workers should not be able even to know if the individual used a blue or black pen to fill in the ballot.

Let's get one thing straight, voter intimidation is illegal, no matter who is doing it!

Since I blogged this article earlier today. I looked further into this. One has to wonder just who were the ones complaining. Robin Holmes is a Republican, so it seems odd that she would be trying to intimidate anyone. Intimidation is the Democrat modus operandi, not Republican. Maybe Democrat plants? Just be extra cautious when voting.

Dominion Voting Machines In New Mexico Allows Ballots to be Filled Out By The Machines Themselves

The audit of Dominion voting machines found some shocking features that calls to question the legitimacy of Otero County's voting results of 2020.

The Gateway Pundit reported:

On Monday night in Alamogordo, Otero County, New Mexico, individuals involved in a 2020 Election audit presented results from their audit to date.  They identified a number of issues and some very shocking issues as well.

The auditors found material issues with the voter rolls in the county.

One of the most shocking audit revelations is this:

Landberg also noted that the Otero County audit found a feature within Dominion machines that would allow ballots to be filled out by the machine itself.

No wonder the Democrats fought like hell against having an audit of 2020 votes.

Cowboys for Trump's Couy Griffin Released

Cowboys for Trump founder Couy Griffin has been ordered released by a federal judge.

From Politico: 

A prominent judge in Washington issued a surprise order Friday freeing a New Mexico county official who is charged with breaching police lines during the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Otero County Commissioner and Cowboys for Trump founder Couy Griffin, 47, was arrested near the Capitol three days before President Joe Biden's inauguration and has been in custody since that time.

It is interesting that Griffin was arrested for being inside the Capitol on January 6, being that there's videos of Capitol Police opening barriers and letting demonstrators inside.

The trial of Griffin and others is going to be interesting to see.

Judge Refuses To Release Couy Griffin

Entering the U.S. Capitol was a dumb move. Even dumber was that a high profile Trump supporter entered a restricted area in the Capitol and got himself arrested. Now he's stuck in jail in Washington, D.C.

Couy Griffin, a commissioner of New Mexico's Otero County was also a founder of the Cowboys for Trump group.

According to KOB 4:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Otero County Commissioner Couy Griffin will remain in federal custody following his arrest for entering a restricted area during the Capitol riots.

Griffin's attorney argued that his client is "not a crazy person even though he has made some unfortunate statements."

In a now-deleted Facebook post, the founder of Cowboys for Trump made a prediction about Inauguration Day. He said “blood will run out of the building." He was arrested in Washington, D.C. ahead of Inauguration Day. 

A preliminary hearing has been set for February 8.

A high profile person, such as Griffin, will only get the book thrown at them when a dumb move is made to make an example out of them.

Where's The Road In "Them!"?

Just like the 1930s and 1940s are generally considered the "classic era" for horror movies, the 1950s is considered by many to the the "classic era" for science-fiction movies.

Last night, I watched one such classic from the 1950s: Them! (1954), with James Whitmore and James Arness.

The story:

While investigating a series of mysterious deaths, Sergeant Ben Peterson (James Whitmore) finds a young girl (Sandy Descher) who is unable to speak. As Peterson joins forces with FBI agent Robert Graham (James Arness) and scientist Dr. Harold Medford (Edmund Gwenn), he discovers that all the incidents are due to giant ants that have been mutated by atomic radiation. Peterson and Graham, with the aid of the military, attempt to find the queen ants and destroy the nests before the danger spreads.

The atomic radiation that mutated the ants originated from the 1945 atomic bomb test (the "Trinity" test) in nearby White Sands, New Mexico.

During the movie, a map of the vicinity of Alamogordo in Otero County was shown where the little girl was found wandering in the desert and where Gramps Johnson was found dead in his store basement.

Above, a real map of the Valmont, New Mexico vicinity. There's no such road from it.

This got my curiosity going. I checked Google Maps, Mapquest and others to see if this was an actual road in New Mexico southwest of Alamogordo originating from Valmont. Well, Valmont is a real place, but none of the maps showed the road depicted in the movie. It was either fictional or the road was removed to protect the public. I go with fictional

I guess fans of Them! can't go on that road to see the "locations" (I suspect the scenes were actually filmed in the Mojave Desert of California).

Authorities said the group is the largest ever apprehended at once.   The massive group of primarily Central American families and children traveling without parents arrived in Sunland Park shortly after midnight.   Hours later, a second group of 230 people illegally crossed the border and surrendered to agents from the El Paso Sector.   Border Patrol's parent agency, Customs and Border Protection, said the groups are not traveling to the U.S. on their own, they are paying human smugglers and cartels to get them into the U.S. At the same time, the U.S. Border Patrol also admits that they have no choice but to release thousands who were exposed to diseases like tuberculosis. From the Conservative Review: [Last] Sunday, Aaron Hull, chief patrol agent of the El Paso sector, divulged to the public what we already suspected but most government officials assiduously covered up. The head of the second busiest illegal immigration corridor told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is increasingly “caring for more and more sick people, because a lot of these aliens coming in are carrying contagious health conditions, things like chicken pox, scabies, tuberculosis, lice.”   Tuberculosis. That is the disease we sought to eradicate through our laws as early as 1907 by requiring every prospective immigrant to wait at Ellis Island, away from the population, until they got the green light to enter.   It is simply inconceivable that this is not a priority threat to the American people. It is certainly a violation of current immigration law.    The law (8. U.S.C. §1182(a)(1)(A)(i)-(ii)) states clearly that any alien “who has failed to present documentation of having received vaccination against vaccine-preventable diseases, which shall include at least the following diseases: mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tetanus and diphtheria toxoids, pertussis, influenza type B and hepatitis B, and any other vaccinations against vaccine-preventable diseases” are inadmissible. Moreover, 8 U.S.C. § 1222(a) requires the government to detain them “for a sufficient time to enable the immigration officers and medical officers to subject such aliens to observation and an examination sufficient to determine whether or not they belong to inadmissible classes.” But that is not what is happening.  In fact, after Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham went on CNN and dubbed New Mexico as the next Ellis Island, she along with Democrat Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller have opened up state facilities at Expo New Mexico to house migrants. In response to the border crisis, Otero County is taking proactive measures to prevent their county from becoming the next place to house migrants. “The Board of County Commissioners of Otero County declares its opposition to the United States Border Patrol and other federal agencies dropping off immigrants in Otero County instead of housing them in federal facilities,” the resolution states. “(The commission) declares its opposition to the use of funds, staff, facilities and other resources of Otero County to sustain immigrants as this should be done by the United States Customs and Border Patrol and other federal agencies.” “Otero County has a limited tax base, struggles to meet the needs of its current residents, lacks facilities to house immigrants and cannot meet the needs of an influx of immigrants,” the resolution states.   2.  DEMOCRAT JUDGE RELEASES CHILD PREDATOR ON FURLOUGH, NOW ON THE RUN As if it's not enough for the Albuquerque metro area to average one shooting per day, including the recent murders of U.S. Postal Service mail carrier Jose Hernandez and UNM student athlete Jackson Weller, now we have state judges threatening public safety by releasing dangerous criminals on furlough. From KOB Eyewitness News: Benny Valenzuela was awaiting sentencing this month for pleading no contest to multiple counts of sexual contact with a child under 13-years-old. He has a violent history – his record shows charges of kidnapping, battery and murder.   Last week, Judge Cindy Mercer allowed him to be furloughed. He had from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to come to Albuquerque to see his newborn granddaughter and return to Valencia County, but he never did.    County prosecutors opposed the furlough but ultimately the judge decided to allow it.

Cartels Thriving In New Mexico After Checkpoint Shutdowns

There is a crisis at the border between New Mexico and Mexico, but the governor has turned a blind eye and, even worse, is in denial that there's even a crisis.

The New York Post reported:

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — In this sprawling desert city in the shadow of the Sacramento Mountains, local officials are fed up with the border crisis — and have gone rogue. 

Otero County last month became the first border community to declare a state of emergency after the federal government shut down two local checkpoints in the area, which had traditionally provided a second line of defense against shipments of drugs and illegal immigrants who managed to sneak through the border at El Paso, about 90 miles to the south. 

“It’s a green light for the cartels when border checkpoints are down,” Otero County Sheriff David Black, 56, told The Post. 

Black, who has lived in this city of nearly 32,000 people his whole life, said he has 44 “gun toters” overseeing the county’s 6,628 square miles of lonely ranchland and pistachio orchards nestled among national parkland and Holloman Air Force Base. 

Now the lawman said he has to deploy his own overworked forces to stop drugs such as methamphetamines, marijuana and fentanyl from coming through his territory, which is home to some 65,000 people. 

Otero County is undefended because US Customs and Border Protection shut down two inspection facilities on US Routes 54 and 70, Black said. The Border Protection agents were sent south to El Paso to help with the massive influx of migrants. More than 800 have been arriving per day at the border near El Paso, according to Border Protection statistics. 

In addition to the federal government’s shutdown of the checkpoints, New Mexico’s recently installed Democratic governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, withdrew 118 National Guard troops from the state’s southern boundary, in defiance of President Trump. Earlier this year, she called Trump’s policies at the Mexican border a “charade of border fear-mongering.” 

In the wake of the Border Protection withdrawal, Griffin and Black want the governor to redeploy the National Guard, and they are determined to sue the state if the governor continues to refuse to cooperate, Griffin said.

NM Otero County Now A "Second Amendment Sanctuary County"

Otero County has voted to become a "Sanctuary County" for the Second-Amendment! This makes it 17 Counties and 3 municipalities who are 2A Sanctuaries, and Curry County who opposes the currently proposed anti-gun legislation.
