Jimmy Stewart At LAX, 1976

Recently, I saw a photo posting of actor Jimmy Stewart and his wife on Facebook. This jogged a memory dating back to 1976.

Former Governor Ronald Reagan was in a primary campaign against President Gerald R. Ford. During the campaign, Reagan was returning to Los Angeles from campaigning in different states. He was scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and the Reagan campaign (Citizens For Reagan) turned this arrival into a campaign rally.

Since I lived only a few miles from LAX, decided to attend the rally.

When I arrived and while walking to rally area, I saw Stewart signing autographs for fans. I took the below snapshot with a 110 Kodak camera I had at the time.

Second Amendment Supporters Rally At Roundhouse

Above, the New Mexico Capitol Building in Santa Fe. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The timing of yesterday's snowstorm put a big dent in the attendance numbers of the 2nd Amendment rally at the state Capitol building, known as the Roundhouse.

I attended a similar rally there in January 2020 which drew several hundred people.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican:

About 40 gun rights supporters gathered outside of the Roundhouse on a snowy Saturday to express their opposition to gun control measures being considered by the Legislature.

Specifically, Senate Bill 279, which would outlaw the sale, transfer and receipt of gas-powered semiautomatic rifles that use high-capacity magazines and ban magazines holding more than 10 rounds.

Gun owners who currently own one of the weapons to be restricted would be allowed to keep them but would have to certify them with the state. The bill advanced out of the Senate Judiciary Committee on a 5-4 vote Friday night, along party lines except for Sen. Joe Cervantes, D-Las Cruces, who voted against it.

Further on in the article, it was written that more moderate Democrats, who were Second Amendment supporters, were primaried out of office by more radical Democrats during last election cycle.

The big question is: Will people of New Mexico comply of Senate Bill 279 passes and is signed into law? You can bet there will be lawsuits filed if it does.

Trump Back In Butler

Above, former President Donald Trump addresses the Butler, Pennsylvania rally.

As he promised, former President Donald Trump returned to Butler, Pennsylvania to hold a rally and to honor those who fell victim to a would-be assassin. The shooting on July 13 killed Corey Comperatore and wounded two others. A bullet grazed Trump's right ear.

Much of the rally honored Comperatore and the other victims. A moment of silence was led by Trump and then it was accompanied by a tenor singing "Ave Maria".

Above, Sen. J D Vance addressing the Butler rally.

Before Trump arrived at the rally, other speakers took to the podium including vice president nominee Sen. J D Vance. Trump had Elon Musk speak to the rally.

I was in Rosemont, Illinois (outside of Chicago) attending G-FEST on July 13 when the assassination attempt took place and was able to catch the news coverage in my room at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare.

Sierra For Trump

While watching last night's Trump rally in Las Vegas, Nevada last night and awaiting his arrival, I decided to have some fun with my cat Sierra.

I got out a 2020 Trump campaign button and put it on her and took some photos. They are in reference to alleged pet-eating migrants in Springfield, Ohio that have raised havoc in the town.

Here's one of the photos I took:

By the way, it's Caturday today!

Trump's Las Vegas Rally

Last night, I went to bed a bit later than usual as I watched the Trump rally from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nevada is a battleground state and is important as to the outcome of this election.

Friends Mitch & Holly Geriminsky and Dwight & Sandie Kuntz attended the rally at the World Market Center. I was able to watch the rally on Live Now On Fox.

Trump was scheduled to arrive at 7:00 PM, but was 40 minutes late. I was in text contact with Mitch and Holly and was able to tell them when Trump's plane landed.

Many speakers spoke before Trump's arrival, including former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard to recounted being put on a terror watch list by the FBI after an appearance on the Laura Ingraham Show. She said a FBI whistleblower exposed this and he ended up getting fired and doxxed. The Biden-Harris Administration are using the FBI as their personal Gestapo secret police against political opponents. This will only get worse if Harris wins in November.

Speaking of tyranny, Gabbard said last night that this is an election of "freedom versus tyranny."

The rally looked like a lot of fun.

By the way, the latest Rasmussen poll has Trump up 6% over Harris.

Kennedy Welcomed At Trump Rally

Above, former President Trump introduces Kennedy to the crowd in Glendale, Arizona.

Earlier today, as you know (unless you're in a Black Hole void), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his independent presidential campaign and threw his support to former President Donald Trump.

This evening, Kennedy joined Trump in Glendale, Arizona at a Trump rally. He spoke on the issues that are in simpatico such as vaccines, health, First Amendment, Deep State and other issues.

Above, Kennedy addresses the Trump rally.

Trump introduced Kennedy at the rally to thunderous applause.

It was an interesting rally, a little more mellow (as far as red meat was concerned) and a bit shorter.

Former President Trump Statement

- July 13th, 2024 -

I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured.

It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead.

I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.

I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.

Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Donald J. Trump

45th President of the United States

It looks like snow showers, rain and gusty winds are part of the weather menu over this weekend.

I was considering going to the Second Amendment rally in Santa Fe Saturday, but snow showers are forecast on Friday and into Saturday there. Looks like I am staying put at home.

Amendment Rally at the State Capitol. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

This coming Saturday, the Second Amendment Rally will take place at the State Capitol in Santa Fe at 10:00 am.

Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and plenty of concerned citizens will attend to support our Second Amendment rights.

Here's the official flyer:

2nd Amendment Rally: Return To The Capitol

Above, the January 31, 2020 Second Amendment Rally at the Capitol. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Now that the 2024 legislative session is about to begin in New Mexico, the announcement that there will be a Second Amendment rally at the Capitol building (the Roundhouse) on February 3 reminds me of the rally what was held there in 2020. It was just before the pandemic started.

Above, yours truly at the 2020 Second Amendment Rally.

I attended that one and it was a cold morning when it was held. There were several hundred participants at that rally in Santa Fe. I stayed the night before at an RV park in Santa Fe. If I go this time, I will likely stay there again. It's a 184 mile drive from home.

Now, like then, the lunatic Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is trying to pass legislation that would infringe on New Mexicans' Second Amendment rights. Citizens of the state fought back and got "Second Amendment Sanctuary County" resolutions enacted back then.

Here's the flyer for the February 3 rally:

Depending upon the weather, I may attend the February 3 rally. I am already planning to go to Santa Fe for a Republican legislator reception and dinner on January 25.

Only One Anti-Gun Bill Reached NM Governor's Desk

Above, the January 2020 Second Amendment Rally at the Capitol. Expect another
one if a special session is called by the governor. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

New Mexico's law-abiding gun owners got through this year's legislative session pretty lucky.

Only one anti-gun bill managed to reach the governor's desk. That was HB 9, the bill mandating the lock-up of firearms. It has a snowball's chance in hell of surviving a constitutional challenge.

Given the make-up of both houses of the legislature, predominantly Democrat, we made out pretty well. The only real question is whether or not the governor calls for a special session to take up more anti-Second Amendment legislation.

According to Piñon Post:

On Saturday at noon, the New Mexico House and Senate adjourned from the 2023 Legislative Session. The adjournment meant the death of many anti-gun proposals that would have restricted citizens’ constitutional rights. Only one bill, H.B. 9, mandating the lockup of firearms, passed and was signed by Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

The dead gun-grabbing legislation includes S.B. 44 banning citizens from carrying a firearm within 100 feet of a polling place during an election, S.B. 428 targeting firearm retailers and manufacturers with frivolous lawsuits, H.B. 100 banning most firearms over 10-round capacity, and H.B. 101 mandating a 14-day waiting period before firearm purchases.

S.B. 427, which is similar to H.B. 101 banning magazine capacity, died, while S.B. 116, mandating a person must be 21 to purchase a firearm, did not make it across the finish line.

Thanks goes out to the Republican caucuses of both houses of the legislature and common sense Democrats who helped defeat the anti-gun bills.

If a special session is called by the governor to pass anti-gun bills, plans are underway to hold a massive rally at the Capitol by pro-Second Amendment citizens.

New Mexico Gun Grabbers Gearing Up For Next Year

Above, hundreds of New Mexico residents at the January 2020 Second
Amendment rally at the Capitol in Santa Fe. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Democrats in the New Mexico legislature are chafing at the bit to pass "gun safety" legislation during next years legislative session.

From the Albuquerque Journal:

SANTA FE – Over the last three years, New Mexico lawmakers have passed bills expanding background check requirements for firearm purchases and allowing guns to be seized from individuals deemed to pose a threat to themselves or others.

Now, with the reelection of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, more gun safety proposals are expected to be brought forward during the 60-day session that starts next month, amid a recent spike in New Mexico firearm-related deaths and after several high-profile school shootings around the nation

The measures likely to be considered include raising the minimum age for purchasing certain assault rifles from 18 to 21, making the failure to safely store firearms out of children’s reach a crime and creating a new office of gun violence prevention within the state Department of Health.

Rep.-elect Reena Szczepanski, D-Santa Fe, who plans to sponsor the legislation that would raise the buying age for purchasing AR-15-style rifles, said New Mexico needs to keep forging ahead on a multi-faceted approach to addressing gun violence.

The last time Democrats in New Mexico went ape-crazy in passing anti-Second Amendment laws, a majority of New Mexico counties enacted "Sanctuary County" resolutions against insane gun control laws. As far as I am aware of, none of them rescinded those resolutions.

Also, a massive pro-Second Amendment rally was held at the Roundhouse in January 2020.

It looks like we have battles ahead of us.
