My new four-legged neighbor got out of its pen yesterday. Fortunately, it didn't go far and is in a neighboring pen with other horses.
The episode was reported by the owner on our community Facebook page and it turns out that the horse is a gelding.
What's a gelding?
In a nutshell (from Wikipedia):
A gelding is a castrated horse or other equine, such as a donkey or a mule. Castration, as well as the elimination of hormonally-driven behavior associated with a stallion, allows a male horse to be calmer and better-behaved, making the animal quieter, gentler and potentially more suitable as an everyday working animal.
The owners have yet to start working him. They mentioned yesterday that he's "wild". It'll be interesting to see how they bring him back to his pen.
