The administrator of Gun Owners of New Mexico Facebook page sent letters to New Mexico's state senators and posted the general text of the letters. You may want to do the same. The letters can be tailored to suit the recipient.
Here it is:
Senator, I urge you not to vote in favor of any Emergency Risk Protection Order law. These laws, as currently being written, lack not only due process - as do *all* ex parte proceedings - but due investigatory diligence prior to the government taking property and curtailing a Constitutionally protected right.
The potential for abuse by malicious individuals with *no* legal consequences for their actions is huge. While I do not want to see people with *real* mental disorders or violent agendas supported with actual evidence to get firearms or keep them, I also do not want to see law-abiding gun owners deprived of their property or their rights absent due process.
So, again, I ask you not to vote in favor of *any* such bill that comes before you.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
