Deb Haaland: Two DWI Convictions

Democrat candidate for New Mexico governor Deb Haaland did not exactly have a stellar life when it came to the law in her early years.

According to KJZZ:

A member of the Laguna Pueblo, Haaland was born in Winslow, Arizona, but describes herself as a 35th generation New Mexican. She spent her youngest years on the move as part of a military family, eventually settling in Albuquerque when she was 14.

Personal and professional difficulties followed. Within the next decade, she became a single mom living on public assistance. A drinking problem resulted in two DWI convictions.

CHP Releases Paul Pelosi Dashcam Video

Mr. Nancy Pelosi, a.k.a. Paul Pelosi, was arrested for drunk driving back on May 28.

He recently pleaded guilty and the dashcam footage of his arrest has been made public. He was arrested by the California Highway Patrol following an accident.

FIRST ON FOX: California Highway Patrol (CHP) has released photos and videos recorded on the night of a May 28 crash involving Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who pleaded guilty to a DUI charge earlier Tuesday.

The long-awaited video shows Pelosi's alleged slurred speech and what police previously described as "objective" signs of intoxication, as well as police asking him to perform field sobriety tests.

As Fox News Digital has reported, Pelosi's 2021 Porsche and the other driver's 2014 Jeep sustained "major collision damage" in a crash around 10:17 p.m. on May 28, and responding officers found Pelosi in the driver’s seat in his damaged car near the intersection of California Route 29 and Oakville Cross Road.  

Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to a DUI charge earlier Tuesday and received a sentence that includes three years on probation, restitution to the victim and a three-month DUI program. He must also have a certified ignition device installed on his vehicle for a year.

The sentence really only amounts to a slap on the wrist.

Tiger Woods Arrested For DUI

One of professional golf's top players has gotten himself into hot water this morning.

Japan Today reported:

Tiger Woods was arrested early Monday on a DUI charge in Jupiter, Florida, and spent nearly four hours in a county jail before he was released. 

Woods, the 14-time major champion who ranks second with his 79 career victories on the PGA Tour, has not played for four months. He is out for the rest of the season while he recovers from his fourth back surgery. 

Woods was arrested on suspicion of DUI about 3 a.m. Monday and taken to the Palm Beach County jail, Jupiter Police spokeswoman Kristin Rightler said. He was arrested on Military Trail, south of Indian Creek Parkway. 

Jail records show that the 41-year-old was booked into Palm Beach County jail at 7:18 a.m. and released on his own recognizance at 10:50 a.m. The jail released a booking photo of Woods in a white T-shirt.

It is sad to see Woods's life spiraling down like this. It seems that his life took a bad turn after his father passed away. I hope he uses this incident as a wake-up call and straightens out his life.

A Drunk Driver On Pacific Coast Highway

It was an uneventful night of work patrolling in Malibu last night in my "parachute" job.

The fun started after work as I headed home down Pacific Coast Highway. No sooner than I started down the six-mile southbound drive from Point Dume to Malibu Canyon Road when a white Toyota sedan came along side of me. He was in the fast lane and I was in the slow lane. My initial thought was, "This guy is awful close."

I slowed down a bit to put some distance between him and me. I then noticed that he was weaving into the painted center divider and my lane and would apply his brakes for no apparent reason. He appeared to be under the influence of something.

I then called 911 and told them of this driver and gave the operator the vehicle description and license plate number. The operator kept me on the line so I can give him our location on the highway.

During this, another car came up in the fast lane and its driver seemed to notice the erratic driving of the white Toyota. He also kept back from the car.

The 911 operator told me that they have sheriff units at Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Canyon Road. A minute or so later, I saw a sheriff vehicle parked on the northbound shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway about a quarter mile north of Malibu Canyon Road.

The Toyota then went into the left turn pocket for Malibu Canyon Road and stopped. I thought, "If this guy goes on Malibu Canyon, he'll most likely go over the side and down into the canyon." No sooner than I thought that, the sheriff vehicle made a u-turn and swooped in behind the Toyota and pulled him over.

While it is too bad the driver had to be placed under arrest (I've no idea if it was a male or female driver) for DUI, at least he/she won't be putting himself/herself or anyone else in jeopardy from their stupidity.

Who knows? I may have saved someone's life last night!

I have to give the Malibu sheriff big kudos. The time between the start of my 911 call to when the sheriff pulled the drunk over was 6 minutes, 27 seconds. Not bad!
