Cuba Issuing Bills Printed On One Side

Things must be pretty bad in Cuba when their banknotes are being dispensed from ATM machines printed only on one side.

Such is the case as reported by World Nation News.

They reported:

Many Cubans lamented on social networks that the island’s ATMs began dispensing bills printed on only one side, possibly due to a lack of ink.

Photos of the “new banknotes” circulate the network and although the regime has not ruled on the matter, a teacher said in a Facebook post by the influential Edmundo Dantes that at his school he paid with bills that had a It was white on the side.

“And then out of the blue the ATMs start giving you invisible money like the achievements of the revolution,” Dantes said in his post.

On his part, Félix Yasser Castillo Pelayo, showing a 100-peso bill with a blank side, conceded that the state “robs you even at the ATM”.

Current Value of Mexican Gold and Silver Coins

When I opened my dad's strongbox that hadn't been opened for over 23 years (I had no key), inside was a Mexican silver coin. It was a 1953 Hildago Silver Commemorative 5 peso coin. Until I did some checking after finding it, I did not know what it was. There were other Mexican coins inside the strongbox, but were not made of silver.

I was reminded of this find when I saw an article this morning (from Saturday) on the current value of Mexican gold and silver coins at Breaking Latest News.

About That Price At Amazon.com.mx...

When I first looked at Amazon Mexico's Kindle Store page for The Monster Movie Fan's Guide To Japan, I was surprised to see the price they had listed (image above).

Although Mexico's currency is in pesos (and centavos), they also use the familiar '$' symbol for their pricing, the same as in the United States.

The price listed for the travel guide is $62.96. That sounds like a hell of a lot of money for an ebook, even for mine.

But, checking with the Universal Currency Converter, I found the rate of exchange between the two currencies to be:

=

13.3325 MXN

So, the price Amazon put on the ebook is right in line. It just looks like a lot.
