In recent days, I noticed that the Jeep had been hard-starting and the new battery didn't seem to get enough charging from the generator. I was getting concerned that I would have to get a new generator.
However, I did some checking and found that the fan belt on the generator was loose. Aha! That was the problem. But, I didn't have a crowbar to use to move the generator to tighten the belt. So I ordered one.
It arrived yesterday and I tightened the belt.
Bingo! That was the problem. Now the generator is putting out more for the battery (the gauge is even more active) and the Jeep is starting very good.
Sometimes a simple belt-tightening is all it takes to solve a problem.
