The Storm Has Arrived

Above, last evening was clear and calm. Photo by Armnd Vaquer.

The opening page of the National Weather Service said this (in part):

Potent Western Storm Shifts into the 4-Corners and Plains

Heavy snow and powerful winds in the Great Basin mountains, Rockies, and into the High Plains will create hazardous travel conditions.

Well, they weren't kidding. High winds woke me up a little earlier than usual and the rain has started. The wind is causing it to hit my south-facing bedroom window.

It looks like I will spend most, if not all, of the day indoors today. It is a good thing I have plenty of groceries stocked up.

The day's forecast:

 Overnight

Snow showers likely. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Windy, with a southwest wind around 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tuesday
Snow showers likely before 9am. Some thunder is also possible. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Windy, with a southwest wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
