Maryland Democrats: End Felony Murder Charges For Persons Under 25

The Looney Left Report

First, they appoint radical leftist judges. Then they try to defund law enforcement. Then they don't prosecute misdemeanors. They practice "catch & release" of criminals. And, they oppose capital punishment.

Despite the aforementioned, the Democrats hate being called "soft on crime". Yet they keep doing things that further perpetuates that accurate image.

The latest is from The Gateway Pundit:

Democratic lawmakers in Maryland are attempting to pass a bill to prevent criminals under 25 from being convicted of felony murder.

In the state of Maryland, “Felony murder occurs when someone is killed while a felony crime, like robbery, is being committed.’

House Bill 1180 , also called the Youth Accountability and Safety Act, would ultimately prevent anyone under 25 from being charged with felony murder.

Gun and Magazine Ban Bills Scheduled for Committee Hearings

The latest from Zac Fort from the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association:

In the coming days, a huge number of anti-2A bills, and one pro-2A bill, will be heard in committees. It is absolutely imperative that gun owners speak out on these bills. If you can make it to Santa Fe in-person to speak on the bills, we recommend it if you want to make sure you have the opportunity to testify before a committee. So far, committee chairs have been giving priority to people attending in-person over those joining virtually.

House Floor
HB9 - The firearm owner liability bill where you could be criminally charged for someone else's actions with your gun. You can't testify on the house floor, but you can contact your state representative today to ask them to oppose the bill.

House Judiciary Committee, Friday February 3rd, 1:30pm Room 309 (Zoom Link)
HB72 - This bill would make it a felony to purchase or possess a bump stock, binary trigger, or anything else that "increases the rate of fire of a semiautomatic firearm." You can use this link to send a pre-drafted letter to members of the committee.

Senate Judiciary Committee, Friday February 3rd, 1:30pm Room 321 (Zoom Link)
SB44 - This bill would ban carrying firearms within 100ft of a polling place while voting is taking place. The ban would apply to both open and concealed carry.

Senate Heath and Public Affairs Committee, Monday February 6th, 1:30pm Room 311 (Zoom Link)
SB171 - This bill would make it a felony to purchase or transfer a suppressor, AR pistol or AK pistol, NFA firearms, incendiary ammunition or "coated" ammunition.

House Consumer and Public Affairs Committee, Tuesday February 7th, 1:30pm Room 317 ( Zoom Link)
HB50 - This bill would make it a felony to possess or purchase a magazine that holds more than 9 rounds. There is no grandfather clause, you would have to turn in your magazines or go to jail. You can use this link to send a pre-drafted letter to members of the committee.
HB100 - This bill would impose a 14 day waiting period to purchase a gun. After filling out the form 4473, you would have to wait two weeks to take the gun home.
HB101 - This bill would make it a felony to possess or purchase a semiautomatic rifle, a magazine that holds more than 9 rounds, or a firearm with a fixed magazine that holds more than 9 rounds. There is no grandfather clause, you would have to turn in your guns and magazines or go to jail.
HB164 - This is the one bill on this list we support, it would allow New Mexicans to concealed carry without a permit.

From The New Mexico Shooting Sports Association Newsletter

This week's newsletter from the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association summarizes the anti-Second Amendment bills in the New Mexico legislature's hopper for the legislative session starting tomorrow.

They are:

2023 Anti-Gun Bills

HB101 If you own a semi-automatic rifle you would have to destroy it or surrender it to the state by July 1 of this year or you would be committing a felony. The bill also makes it a felony to own a magazine that holds more than 9 rounds.

HB9 creates a fourth-degree felony penalty for a person who keeps or stores a firearm in a manner that negligently disregards a minor's ability to access that firearm and the minor accesses that firearm and uses it in a manner that causes great bodily harm to or death of the minor or another person. If the same circumstances existed and the minor displays or brandishes the firearm in a threatening manner or causes injury to himself or another person not resulting in great bodily harm or death, the person is guilty of a misdemeanor. A person does not violate the provisions of the act if a minor obtained the firearm as a result of an illegal entry to the person's property; if the firearm was kept in a locked container and was securely stored or kept in a location that a reasonable person would believe to be secure when obtained by the minor; if the firearm was carried on one's person or within close proximity of the person; if the firearm was locked with a firearm safety device that rendered the firearm inoperable; or if the minor obtained the firearm in the course of self-defense or defense of another person.

HB50 POSSESSION OF LARGE CAPACITY GUN MAGAZINE - That bill would make it a felony to own a magazine that holds more than 9 rounds which would apply to most firearms with a detachable magazine.

HB72 POSSESSION OF SEMIAUTOMATIC FIREARM CONVERTER

HB100 Puts a mandatory 14-Day hold on all firearms sales from an FFL.

The New Mexico Legislature convenes on January 17 and will meet for 60 calendar days.  Here is a link you can use to find the contact information for your legislator:  https://www.nmlegis.gov/Members/Find_My_Legislator

Americans Under Felony Indictment Can Still Buy Guns, Judge Rules

Americans who are indicted for a felony can still buy guns. A federal law was ruled unconstitutional thatprohibited those under felony indictment from buying guns.

A federal judge ruled this on Monday.

From Reuters:

Sept 20 (Reuters) - A federal law prohibiting people under felony indictment from buying firearms is unconstitutional, a federal judge in Texas has concluded, citing a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that significantly expanded gun rights.

U.S. District Judge David Counts, an appointee of Republican former President Donald Trump, reached that conclusion on Monday in dismissing a federal indictment against Jose Gomez Quiroz, who had been charged under the decades-old ban.

Counts cited the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in June declaring for the first time that the right to "keep and bear arms" under the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment protects a person's right to carry a handgun in public for self-defense.

Tennessee Making "Unauthorized Camping" A Felony

Homeless encampments have been growing by leaps and bounds these past several years.

Many states have taken a blind eye to them and others (predominantly liberal states) have even encouraged them. People are getting fed up with these eyesores and the crime they bring.

There are some that are taking action to try to eliminate them. Tennessee is one of them. They just passed a law making unauthorized camping a felony.

From RV Travel:

Tennessee is poised to become the first state to make unauthorized camping on public lands a felony.

The move is intended to cut into the rising tide of homeless camping on public property, including parks and highways. The Tennessee Senate voted 20-10 in April to advance the camping felony bill. The Tennessee House passed a version of the new law last year.

Public pressure to do something about the increasing number of highly visible homeless encampments has pushed even many traditionally liberal cities in the U.S. to clear them out. Although camping has generally been regulated by local vagrancy laws, Texas passed a statewide ban last year. Municipalities that fail to enforce the ban risk losing state funding. Several other states have introduced similar bills, but Tennessee is the only one to make camping a felony.

Hopefully, these kinds of laws won't affect travelers who stop for a night's rest at rest areas or even truck stops/travel centers or boondocking.

Virginia Bill To Make Firearms Training A Felony

The Looney Left Report

The following is an excellent example on why stupid people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

The Democrats have a solid grip in the Virginia legislature following the recent elections, besides having a loon as their governor.

Law Enforcement Today reported:
Virginia legislators have clearly lost their minds on this latest bill that was drafted and filed this month, which will be open to discussion come January 2020.
This of course is in reference to Senate Bill Number 64, or SB64 as it may appear on various print or spoken discussion.
Virginia is attempted to chip away at the rights of citizens, one small hammer stroke at a time; and this bill is going to attempt to outlaw firearm training. We’ll display the language used in the bill and get into dissecting how it may be perceived generally, or even presented, versus how it can also be enacted.
The first portion of the bill goes as follows:
“A person is guilty of unlawful paramilitary activity, punishable as a Class 5 felony if he: 1. Teaches or demonstrates to any other person the use, application, or making of any firearm, explosive, or incendiary device, or technique capable of causing injury or death to persons, knowing or having reason to know or intending that such training will be employed for use in, or in furtherance of, a civil disorder”
It seems to make firearms training a Class 5 felony.

That is why people in the 2020 elections should not vote for any Democrat. They are hell-bent on taking away the constitutional rights of Americans.

However, there is some good news coming out of Virginia.

GunsAmerica Digest reported:
Virginia gun owners have gathered by the hundreds at Board of Supervisors meetings in counties across the state to send a message to the newly elected Democratic legislature in Richmond.
As of this writing, 23 counties and towns have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries since Michael Bloomberg flipped the state legislature from red to blue earlier this month. Second Amendment sanctuaries exist in many states across the country, but no state has seen so many in such a short span of time.
Gun owners are following in the footsteps of New Mexico and other states by having their county Boards of Supervisors declare their counties as Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties.

New Mexico Democrats Want To Allow Felons To Buy Guns

The Looney Left Report

Lunacy is deeply embedded in the Democrat Party, no matter where.

The latest are the Democrats in the New Mexico State Senate. They claim they want gun control for protecting the citizens, but come up with something so loony (and the exact opposite) that it would be impossible to make up.

The New Mexico Shooting Sports Association posted (bold highlight mine):
The New Mexico State Senate has passed HB370, this bill would allow someone convicted of a violent felony to expunge their record and therefore be able to purchase a firearm with a background check. So while claiming they want to keep firearms from dangerous individuals, anti-gun politicians have paved the way for people convicted of violent crimes to be able to purchase a gun.

And I thought California Democrats are the craziest!

Yes, folks, Democrats have to be lunatics to come up with something like this! We'll see if this passes the legislature and if Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signs it into law.

The Criminal Act of Extortion

Some people have been asking me about a past association that ended a few months ago. Unfortunately, the association had to be terminated (by me) as I was confronted with a threat of blackmail.

There is no such danger now. However, since the statute of limitations for this felony has not expired, a prosecution action may still be initiated.

As the party involved does read this blog, it would be well for this person to bear in mind the following:

The Criminal Act of Extortion

California extortion is a criminal offense whereby the defendant obtains goods or services by the use of direct threats or threatening behavior.

Extortion Using Blackmail

Blackmail is extortion by threatening another person's reputation or organization with the disclosure of harmful or secret information that would be damaging to that person if released. The information to be released may be true or false. The disclosure of the information does not have to be criminal nor does the offender actually have to receive money or property for the act to be considered extortion.

Extortion Penalties

California extortion, including bribery and blackmail are serious criminal offenses usually charged as a felony. These crimes are punishable by up to 4 years in state prison and/or fines of up to ($10,000) ten thousand dollars or more.

The aforementioned does not include any possible civil action that can and may also be initiated.
