Sen. Menendez Refuses To Resign

New Jersey Democrat Senator Bob Menendez is in hot water over his indictment on bribery charges.

However, he is defiant and refuses to resign.

Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., signaled Monday that he will remain in office despite pressure to resign after being indicted on corruption charges.

Menendez was defiant as he delivered his first public remarks since the Sept. 22 indictment. He spoke in Union Station, New Jersey, where he started his political career four decades ago. He didn't take any questions from the press.

"Everything I've accomplished I've worked for despite the naysayers and everyone who has underestimated me," he said. "I recognize this will be the biggest fight yet. But as I have stated throughout this whole process, I firmly believe that when all the facts are presented, not only will I be exonerated, but I still will be New Jersey's senior senator."

Menendez and his wife, Nadine, are accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars of bribes in exchange for wielding his power to enrich three businessmen -- Wael Hana, Jose Uribe and Fred Daides -- and benefit the Egyptian government. Those bribes, according to prosecutors, included gold bars, a luxury convertible car, home mortgage payments and more.

Albuquerque, March 30 — Today, a Manhattan grand jury voted to indict former President Trump on charges believed to be associated with alleged hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels. The indictment has not been unsealed, and the exact charges are unknown. Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman and former Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement: "We've known from the beginning that this is a political witch hunt against the former President. We had a rogue, Soros-funded district attorney with a political agenda facing intense pressure from the left ahead of an election year. Many Democrats have criticized this case for lack of credibility and condemned the biased judicial system in New York. This indictment sets a dangerous precedent for the future of the nation. If a former chief executive officer of the United States can be arrested on dubious charges, the same thing can happen to others. It would be great to see the same fervor for the solid evidence against the Biden family and their ties to Communist China, or better yet, let's see an investigation into our Governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, and her alleged hush money payments made from her campaign funds. The indictment of former President Donald Trump today was not unexpected, given the political climate in this country. This is purely an unethical move on the Soros-backed district attorney's part and a continuance of the Democrat Party's weaponizing the American justice system. Nothing more.

Prior prosecutors looked into the case and found nothing there to warrant any prosecution.

Americans Under Felony Indictment Can Still Buy Guns, Judge Rules

Americans who are indicted for a felony can still buy guns. A federal law was ruled unconstitutional thatprohibited those under felony indictment from buying guns.

A federal judge ruled this on Monday.

Sept 20 (Reuters) - A federal law prohibiting people under felony indictment from buying firearms is unconstitutional, a federal judge in Texas has concluded, citing a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that significantly expanded gun rights.

U.S. District Judge David Counts, an appointee of Republican former President Donald Trump, reached that conclusion on Monday in dismissing a federal indictment against Jose Gomez Quiroz, who had been charged under the decades-old ban.

Counts cited the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in June declaring for the first time that the right to "keep and bear arms" under the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment protects a person's right to carry a handgun in public for self-defense.

John Edwards Mugshot

Call him "Breck Girl" or "Silky Pony," but no matter what one calls former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, just call him indicted.

Edwards pleaded not guilty in early June after a federal grand jury indicted him on six counts, including conspiracy, issuing false statements and violating campaign contribution laws.

He is accused of using campaign money to cover up an affair with Rielle Hunter.

John Edwards: The Breck Girl Indicted

Former Democratic Presidential candidate John "The Breck Girl" Edwards has been indicted.

WRAL.com reports:

Raleigh, N.C. — A federal grand jury on Friday indicted two-time Democratic presidential candidate and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards. He is charged with four counts of illegal campaign contributions, one count of conspiracy and one count of false statements.

A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he is expected to appear in federal court in Winston-Salem at 2:30 p.m. Friday and plead not guilty.

If convicted, Edwards faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the conspiracy charge. He faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count of accepting and receiving illegal campaign contributions and a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the charge of concealing the alleged illegal donations.

If convicted, it will be interesting to see how Edwards enjoys prison life once his fellow inmates find out about his "Breck Girl" nickname.
