DK Hawaiian Clothing & Accessories and Santee Alley

Prior to heading to Buena Park for Medieval Times, we planned to do some shopping for our upcoming Hawaii vacation.

I had compiled a list of three Hawaii-oriented shops in the Fashion District of Los Angeles. Of the three, one was gone without a trace and the other was closed for the day. But, the first place we stopped at, DK Hawaiian Clothing & Accessories (a.k.a. DK Hawaiian Collection) was open and we bought most of what we wanted. (DK stands for Don Ko.) And, they were at very reasonable prices! Denise bought ten items and the total came to $110.00. Not bad!

We found the store to be nicely decorated and stocked. The staff were friendly and helpful to Denise and her friend Jackie.

The store was recently relocated on Santee Alley in the Fashion District. According to the Santee Alley blog:
The store is a wholesale and retail vendor of Hawaiian apparel, accessories, and fashion jewelry. DK is a manufacturer and has other locations in the Fashion District, but this is the only one that is open to the public.
In addition to Hawaiian inspired fashions, DK offers "Rasta" merchandise: clothing, totes, backpacks, beanies, jewelry, and accessories.
Their address is 1108 1/2 Santee Street (but located in Santee Alley east of Santee Street), Los Angeles. Phone 213-747-7404.

After we were done shopping at DK, we wandered around Santee Alley. Denise and Jackie had a field day hitting the shops and hit the jackpot in finding clothing bargains. At one point, while the girls were in a store and trying on some items, I wandered across the arcade to a men's suit shop. There, I found a navy blue suit at a very reasonable price. So I bought it. It replaces the suit that got eaten up by Mothra.

Great bargains can be found in the Fashion District. The proof of that was that all three of us came away with goods.
