Since my subdivision is right next to the Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, the following story in RV Travel caught my attention. It looks like there will be no temporary jobs available for fiscal year 2025.
They start their story with:
Are you used to seeing Forest Service workers? They may be doing campground maintenance, improving trails, or working to prevent a wildfire. Many of these folks are temporary workers, hired on a seasonal basis. In a surprising move, no Forest Service temp jobs will be available for the Service’s fiscal year 2025. And that doesn’t mean sometime in January: the fiscal year begins in October. What’s behind the hiring freeze, and what effects will come from it?
Hopefully, we won't be seeing trash strewn all over the place in our national forests, especially in the campgrounds because of this.
