"It's Complicated"

Above, it was windy today, but still a good enough day for off-roading. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

It turns out that we're to get three storms this week in McKinley County. The first of the three will be hitting tonight. So far, there's no precipitation. It has been windy all day.

The McKinley County Office of Emergency Management posted the following on Facebook:
It's Monday evening and this week's weather forecast is still complicated. Below is a summary of what the current forecast is predicting for tonight through Friday. There are a total of three storms impacting the state this week with tonight being the first then Wednesday and Thursday being the second and Friday the third. It is these back to back storms and fluctuations in temperature models that makes it hard for forecasters to nail down the forecast for Wednesday through Friday. As we progress through the week the forecast will solidify more for each storm. Please monitor your preferred weather source for the latest forecasts throughout the week.
Monday Night: Breezy to windy conditions will continue through the night as temperatures drop to the upper teens to low 20's. Windchills will be low and cold exposure injury can occur quickly. Light snow is possible later this evening through the early morning hours. Accumulation of 0" to 1" is most likely with higher elevations seeing up to 2" or maybe 3". Minimal impacts expected.
Tuesday: Temperatures will remain in the low 30's for the day and winds will remain breezy and start to diminish as the day progresses. Windchills will remain on the chilly side throughout the day.
Wednesday: Temperatures are forecast to reach the mid 40's for the high. There will be a slight chance of rain/snow overnight.
Thursday: A chance of rain/snow will persist through the day and increase overnight.
Friday: Snow, cold, and breezy conditions are forecast. Snow total estimates are not available for this timeframe yet. It is predicted that there may be travel impacts with this storm.
Below are some graphics from the NWS ABQ that show the larger statewide picture for those with travel plans this week. We will provide updated information tomorrow.
Please take time to prepare and check on elders, neighbors, pets, and livestock throughout the week.
