Skymet Weather Doesn't Think New Mexico Is a State



Some people haven't a clue that New Mexico is a state in the United States (well, we have some doubts about California these days. A weather website seems to imply that New Mexico isn't a state.

I was reading a weather report about coming snows this Thanksgiving and a sentence caught my attention.

It is from Skymet Weather and here how it reads (I have put the sentence in question in bold):
Apart from widespread flooding and mudslides, travel woes are anticipated with the rounds of heavy rain over Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and San Diego throughout the week. 
Snow will also stretch into Arizona, starting in northwestern parts of the state late Wednesday night, then spreading across the North of the state by Friday. 
Not just the US, parts of New Mexico will also get to bear the brunt of this storm. Swathes of snow and heavy rain are likely over New Mexico and western Texas on Wednesday.
