Rain & Snow Showers: Balloon Ascensions Unlikely Today

Above, balloons ascending on Friday. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Today is the last day of this year's Red Rock Balloon Rally. Yesterday's skies were much clearer than what we had on Friday, but the balloons still were launched.

It doesn't appear that there will be any balloon ascensions today as we are now under a Winter Weather Advisory. Rain and snow showers are expected.

Here's a quick video I shot Friday at the balloon rally:

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast is as follows:

Today
Windy. Widespread rain and snow showers. Snow accumulation 1 or 2 inches. Highs in the mid 40s. West winds 20 to 30 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph increasing to 45 mph in the afternoon. Caution advised on area lakes.
Tonight
Windy. Numerous rain and snow showers in the evening, then scattered rain and snow showers after midnight. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Lows in the lower 30s. West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 40 mph.
Monday
Breezy. Mostly cloudy with scattered rain and snow showers. Snow level 7500 feet. Highs in the lower 40s. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph.
