The Weekend

Above, a couple of the local residents yesterday. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

What I find interesting about having the ground here saturated from recent snow and rain is that during the night, the moisture in the ground freezes and the ground is as hard a s concrete. But once the temperature rises about freezing (over 32°), the ground gets all muddy again.

So tonight through Sunday night, we're expected to get more rain and possibly snow.

Since Six Mile Canyon will be closed tomorrow for the winter, I may take a little jaunt there today. If not, I may head over to the Red Rock Theaters to see the new Clint Eastwood-directed Richard Jewell (if it's playing here).

As of now, the National Weather Service forecast is:

Today
Partly sunny, with a high near 49. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
Tonight
A slight chance of rain between 11pm and 2am, then a slight chance of snow after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Southwest wind 15 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Sunday
A 30 percent chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 38. Breezy, with a southwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Sunday Night
A 20 percent chance of snow before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 15. West wind 5 to 15 mph.
