Israel-Hamas War Cause Precious Metals Rally

Gold and silver spot prices had been in the doldrums in recent weeks, but the war between Israel and Hamas seems to have kick-started them, especially gold as it is seen as the "safe haven" precious metal.

Kitco News reported:

(Kitco News) - Gold prices are solidly higher in early U.S. trading Monday, following the surprise Hamas attack on Israel over the weekend. Safe-haven demand is featured as the world has just seen an unexpected major geopolitical shock that has traders and investors spooked. December gold was las up $18.40 at $1,863.40 and December silver was up $0.047 at $21.77.

Asian and European stocks were mostly lower overnight. U.S. stock indexes are pointed to lower openings when the New York day session begins. The marketplace is unnerved following the weekend Hamas raid on Israel that killed hundreds of civilians and hostages taken. Israel retaliated harshly and declared war on Hamas. This is the largest act of violence seen in Israel in 50 years. Risk aversion is high to start the trading week, as the ramifications of the weekend attack by Hamas are huge, both politically and economically. The U.S. is building up its military presence in the Middle East region.

Currently, the COMEX price for silver is hovering around $21.82/toz. It remains to be seen if the Middle East conflict will send it up over $22.00/toz.

Wonder Woman Star Gal Gadot Under Attack For Tweet

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has come under fire for Tweeting her support for Israel in the current fight with Hamas. Actually, she came out for peace between the two sides.

Hamas has been indiscriminately firing rockets into Israel over the past several days.

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has received a backlash online over her tweet about the escalation of violence in Israel and Gaza.

The Israeli actress and former Miss Israel posted: "Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation," adding: "Our neighbours deserve the same."

The comments attracted thousands of replies - now switched off - leading to her name trending on Twitter.

In her youth, Gadot completed two years of mandatory military service.

"My heart breaks," the 36-year-old posted online.

"My country is at war. I worry for my family, my friends. I worry for my people. This is a vicious cycle that has been going on for far too long.

"I pray for the victims and their families. I pray for this unimaginable hostility to end, I pray for our leaders to find the solution so we could live side by side in peace. I pray for better days."

While some high-profile people, including US politician Ted Cruz, praised Gadot for her remarks, many others reacted angrily.

She was criticised by supporters of the Palestinian cause, who pointed to her service in the Israeli military.

I, for one, am a supporter of Israel and a fan of Gal Gadot.

Gas Pipeline Cyber-Hack, A Russian Operation

A few minutes ago, I returned from taking The Beast (my 2015 Minnie Winnie motorhome) to the Flying J to fill up its fuel tank.

It was a good thing that I did. The price for unleaded regular was $2.999/gallon. Thankfully, my Good Sam membership gets me a five cent per gallon discount, so my price was $2.949/gallon. As I have to take The Beast into Gallup tomorrow for service and will have to go to Albuquerque next week, I figured I'd better get gas now before the price goes into California gas price territory.

I learned today that the Colonial gas pipeline cyber-hack was done by the Russians. Specifically, a crime group called "Dark Side". They may or may not be tied to the Russian government. 

Commentator Larry Kudlow said that unless the pipeline is back in operation by Friday, "All bloody hell will break loose!" He sees this as a test of His Fraudulency Joe Biden. Notice that Hamas is suddenly attacking Israel? The timing is too much of a coincidence. They see Biden as weak and are testing him. When President Trump was in office, they didn't dare.

The gasoline shortage mainly affects the east coast, but prices are starting to climb here in New Mexico. 

Get ready for a possible wild ride!

Graceland To Be Moved To Japan?

This is not very likely to happen. (But then, weirder things have happened.)

Elvis Presley Enterprises allegedly received offers to dismantle Graceland and move it to Japan, China or the Middle East like the London Bridge that was moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona.

According to The Sun:

ELVIS’S Graceland mansion could be moved to Japan amid a £76million makeover row. 

City chiefs in Memphis, US, object to public cash going on part of the expansion. 

Bosses at the Blue Suede Shoes icon’s estate have threatened to dismantle and relocate it in the Middle or Far East. 

Joel Weinshanker, 48, said: “We had an offer ten days ago to move Graceland to Japan.
“We had two offers to move to the Middle East and one to go to China. 

“They offered us more profit than we could ever make in Memphis.” 

Refit plans include a hangar for Elvis’s planes, a larger visitors’ guesthouse, a club based on his living room and a 6,200-seat indoor arena.

Flying Without Laptops?

It's a good thing that I don't fly between the U.S. and the Middle East or Europe. Even if I did, I've 

rarely used my laptop computer while flying anywhere.

The proposed ban on large electronic devices is causing some concern for some.

According to Japan Today:

New York-International air travelers might soon rediscover magazines, paperbacks and playing cards. 

Airline passengers have become hooked on their laptops and tablets to get work done or just kill time during long flights. But U.S. aviation-security officials appear determined to ban large electronic devices in the cabin of flights from Europe. 

Business travelers are worried about lost productivity, laptops in checked baggage being stolen or damaged, or even leaving the machine home if their employer won't let them check it on a plane. Parents are pondering how to keep children occupied. 

On Wednesday, U.S. and European Union officials exchanged information about threats to aviation, believed to include bombs hidden in laptop computers. Airline and travel groups are concerned about the possibility that a ban on laptops and tablet computers that currently applies to mostly Middle Eastern flights will be expanded to include U.S.-bound flights from Europe. 

The officials agreed to meet again next week.

Some airlines, like United Airlines, still do give out free decks of playing cards. I keep my deck of United Airlines playing cards (pictured above) in my RV.

German Paper: "Obama's Middle East Policy In Ruins"

While the U.S. Obama lapdog media focused on Mitt Romney's alleged gaffe (he said nothing wrong and had every right to say it), the international media has their focus on the failure of Obama's Middle East policies.

The Washington Free Beacon posted a snippet from the German newspaper Der Spiegel:

“US President Barack Obama’s Middle East policy is in ruins. Like no president before him, he tried to win over the Arab world. After some initial hesitation, he came out clearly on the side of the democratic revolutions. … In this context, he must accept the fact that he has snubbed old close allies such as Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Egyptian military. And now parts of the freed societies are turning against the country which helped bring them into being. Anti-Americanism in the Arab world has even increased to levels greater than in the Bush era. It’s a bitter outcome for Obama.”
