Man Stands In Road As Bison Stampede Towards Him

Above, a pair of Yellowstone bison relaxing on a hill. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

There's a lot of stupid people in this world.

Here's a touron (tourist moron) who stood in the middle of a Yellowstone National Park road as a herd of bison stampeding towards him. Definitely a leading candidate for a Darwin Award.

From Whiskey Riff:

And the award for “National Park Idiot of the Year” goes to…

There are some people that live on God’s green Earth that live their life like they’re invincible. The man in this video, who stands right in the middle of a road in Yellowstone National Park with a bison herd barreling right at him, is one of those people.

RV Travel: Why Are So Many Tourists Stupid?

In recent years, there have been (unfortunately) numerous stories of stupid behavior of tourists in national and state parks.

There are people who think nothing of putting themselves in danger just to get a selfie with a bear, elk or bison.

RV Travel asks why are so many tourists stupid in a new article.

They begin it with:

OPINION

There’s an undeniably smug pleasure many of us take in observing others’ failings or stupid behavior, and indeed, it’s hard not to feel superior when reading about the latest winners of the Darwin Awards. Or when gaping at the pictures posted on the People of Walmart site. Who goes out in public like that? How do some people come up with such incredibly dumb ideas?

And aren’t we special/smart/superior not to be like that?

And yet … and yet, perhaps the line between smart and stupid is a lot fuzzier than we think. Consider, for example, the gleeful fascination that self-styled outdoorsy types have with “tourons,” that mashup of tourist and moron used to describe people who think it’s a good idea to take selfies with a bison or elk, or who try to pet bear cubs. These encounters, which frequently end badly for the touron, are grounded in a Disney-fied view of nature and its creatures as essentially benign and placed on this world for our enjoyment. For a touron, the thought that we might be perceived as a threat—or even as a food source—is inconceivable. And it’s that lack of awareness that causes so much self-satisfaction for observers who pat themselves on the back for knowing so much better.

Tourists Sprint Towards Mama Bear and Cubs

Above, a mother bear and cub at Yellowstone National Park in 2015. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

After reading the following (and seeing a video) one can only conclude that this is a stupid world we now live in.

The Daily Mail (U.K.) reported:

A shocking video of tourists sprinting towards a bear at Yellowstone National Park has gone viral and prompted backlash on social media.

The clip shows a mother black bear and her two cubs sniffing around in the grass, alongside a road full of queuing cars.

Suddenly, a group of tourists jump out of their vehicles, point, and then begin to sprint towards the bears.

There are four men running, one of whom appears to be carrying a toddler in his arms, while a woman comes into shot approaching the animals with a camera.

Thankfully, the mama bear and her cubs seemed to be startled by the approaching people and quickly ran away from the cars.

Yellowstone Issues Wildlife Warning Following Incidents

Above, a woman taking a selfie with a bison last week in Yellowstone. How stupid can one get?

It is incredible that people have to be told to keep at a safe distance from wild animals at Yellowstone and other national parks.

In recent weeks, there have been incidents at Yellowstone in which people either got too close to bison or interfered with baby animals. A ditzy woman was seen taking a selfie with a bison. She's lucky that the bison didn't attack and gore her.

I have taken photos of bison and other animals, but they were taken with zoom lenses from safe distances.

From Yahoo! Life:

The National Park Service is warning visitors to Yellowstone National Park to respect wildlife and maintain a safe distance following a series of incidents in which people interfered with the park’s animals.

The park service warned visitors to stay away from any animal, even if it is found near a campsite, trail, boardwalk, parking lot, on a road, or in a developed area. In fact, park goers must stay at least 25 yards away from all wildlife (including bison, elk, and deer) and at least 100 yards away from bears and wolves.

9.1% Inflation CPI and Stupid People

The report on inflation is out and it is not good. In fact, it exceeded forecasts.

Bloomberg reported:

US inflation roared again to a fresh four-decade high last month, likely strengthening the Federal Reserve’s resolve to aggressively raise interest rates that risks upending the economic expansion.

The consumer price index rose 9.1% from a year earlier in a broad-based advance, the largest gain since the end of 1981, Labor Department data showed Wednesday. The widely followed inflation gauge increased 1.3% from a month earlier, the most since 2005, reflecting higher gasoline, shelter and food costs.

Nobody really needs a report to be fully aware that everything we buy is costing a hell of a lot more. With that being said, I heard a radio report on the upcoming mid-term elections. From what I heard, there's a lot of stupid people out there.

The report on the radio said 41% of people want the Democrats to retain control of congress, while 40% want Republicans to take over. While this is close, it concerns me that there are so many stupid people out there.

Who in their right mind want the Democrats to be in control of anything? They and His Fraudulency Joe Biden got us into the mess we're in and continually are making it worse. 41% is an awful lot of stupid people.

This goes with what I've been saying for years: Stupid People Should Not Be Allowed To Vote!

Stupidity of Tourists At Yellowstone

Above, since Yellowstone is not a petting zoo and bison are very
dangerous, I used a zoom lens for this shot. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Every so often, a story would pop up about some Bozo tourist at Yellowstone National Park doing something incredibly stupid.

Sometimes, their stupidity is rewarded with fatal results at worst and sometimes it is rewarded with residency in jail for a spell at best.

On this topic, TravelPulse has posted an article which begins with:

Here’s my Public Service Announcement of the Week for tourists. It’s free by the way.

Dear Tourists,

Yellowstone National Park – or any other area open to the public that is also home to wildlife – is not a freakin’ petting zoo at the County Fair. So stop trying to touch or feed or take a photo or, worse, a selfie, next to a bison or a bear!

Love, Richie

See, it’s that time of year again. Yellowstone and our other great national parks are about to be overrun by visitors who have been aching to travel for two-plus years.

That’s a good thing. Travel and tourism is always a good thing.

Yet the stupidity of some of these people is a bad thing. A very bad thing. And it can’t just be blamed on the current state of events in the world. That would be low-hanging fruit, given the enormity of the amount of existing idiocy.
