Grants Plans To Hold Wild West Days Rodeo

Above, last year's Lions Club Rodeo in Gallup. This year's rodeo has been cancelled. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

There's been no word on rodeos in Gallup that I've seen except for the cancellation of the Lions Club Rodeo at Red Rock Park Rodeo Arena.

Many rodeos have been cancelled or modified over the coronavirus. But, there is one town in New Mexico that plans to hold its rodeo during July 4 weekend. That town is Grants, which is about 45 miles away from me.

According to the Gallup Independent:
GRANTS — The Grants Rodeo Association is making plans to go ahead and host the annual Wild West Days Rodeo over the 4th of July weekend in Grants.
Amid the deadly COVID-19 pandemic that has forced the cancellation or postponements of live sports events worldwide for the past three months, including major rodeos like the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo along with PRCA and PBR events, Grants Rodeo Association President Dominic Moleres said the town is moving ahead with the yearly rodeo that includes the National Senior Pro Rodeo.
I will probably go to this one. This is normally a fun season in New Mexico. It runs from July 2 - 4.
