The New Mexico Sheriff's Association is against red flag laws (gun confiscation without due process) and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham wants a red flag law enacted next year.
One sheriff sent the Governor and email opposing any red flag laws and stated it won't be enforced.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico sheriff is speaking out, saying he won’t enforce red flag gun legislation if passed. The legislation would let law enforcement obtain a court order to remove guns from people considered dangerous.
San Juan County Sheriff Shane Ferrari sent an email to the governor on behalf of the New Mexico Sheriff’s Association. He says instead of creating a bill like this, legislators should amend federal gun laws to function at a state level. He also says a red flag law won’t keep those suffering from mental illness from hurting others.
