Happy New Year!

Above, yours truly at the Red Rock 10 Theaters in Gallup.

As previously mentioned, I decided to give Godzilla Minus One another viewing. This time, it was at the local Red Rock 10 Theaters in Gallup. The first time I saw it was in Albuquerque at the beginning of the month.

It was as enjoyable as the first time. The theater was about half full. It was a nice way to close out the year.

Godzilla Minus One is doing great business worldwide. It is closing in on $80 million! I would surmise that this will be the most successful Japanese Godzilla movie in history. I am certain that Toho is quite happy.

Above, the chicken enchiladas (the Rita Moreno on the menu). Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Following that, I headed over to the Silver Screen restaurant at the El Rancho Hotel. I had chicken enchiladas.

Above, yours truly about to have dinner under the watchful eyes of The Duke.

Now, I am going to sit at home and relax. I will likely be asleep in bed by midnight. If that's the case, Happy New Year to all!

Snow Showers Starting Thursday

Above, three years ago. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The "pleasant, but boring" weather we've been having (albeit in the 40s) continues for the first part of the week.

But, all that will change (if the National Weather Service's forecast holds) Thursday when there's a 60% chance of snow showers in Jamestown.

It was pleasant enough yesterday for me to cruise around in the Jeep, near 50°.

The week's forecast:

Today
Sunny, with a high near 45. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight
Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
New Year's Day
Increasing clouds, with a high near 47. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Monday Night
Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Southeast wind around 5 mph.
Tuesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the morning.
Tuesday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 19.
Wednesday
Sunny, with a high near 46.
Wednesday Night
Increasing clouds, with a low around 24.
Thursday
Snow showers likely, mainly after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Thursday Night
Snow showers likely, mainly before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Friday
A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 35.
Friday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 18.
Saturday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.

New Year's Eve and The Big G

To finish off 2023, since there really aren't too many New Year's celebration options to attend, I figure on going to see Godzilla Minus One this afternoon at the Red Rock 10 Theaters in Gallup.

Their schedule for today:

This will be my second viewing of the best theatrical movie I've seen this year.

Following that, I will head over to the Silver Screen restaurant at the El Rancho Hotel.

Ordered Ammo

Above, the Winchester 1894 and scabbard. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Since the cost of ammunition is bound to be going up in 2024 (along with possible shortages), I decided to order some .30-30 Winchester and 12 gauge shot shells while the prices are still reasonable through Cabela's (their shipping cost is only $5.00) and they're having year-end sales. I'll be ready for some target practice when it gets warmer this coming spring and summer.

I decided to try out a different brand of 12 gauge shot shells. Previously, I was using Remington target load shells. I have no problem with them, but decided to see if Federal's Top Gun Target Load performs better.

As for the .30-30 Winchester, I decided on Hornady American Whitetail .30-30 Winchester 150 Grain. I could have bought 170 grain, but decided on making it easier on the Winchester Model 1894. After all, it is only for target practice. Their under-$26.00 price/box is much better than the $70.00 price/box I saw last week in a Lake Havasu gun store.

Wayne Family Estate Napa Valley Wines Launched

John Wayne was usually associated with bourbon, but now the Wayne Family is introducing Wayne Family Estate Napa Valley Wines.

From their press release:

NAPA, Calif., (Dec. 7, 2023) - When John Wayne’s youngest son Ethan became manager of his father’s estate, he discovered about 30 wooden vaults that had been sealed by executors after his father’s 1979 passing. In one was a collection of wines the Oscar-winning actor had collected.

Now that collection has inspired a new line of Napa Valley reserve wines, arriving just in time for holiday gifting. Wayne Family Estate is dedicated to making wines that inspire like the life of The Duke, who pursued the American dream through hard work and determination. These unique traits can be found in each bottle of Wayne Family Estate’s handcrafted wines produced at the historic Fairwinds Estate Winery on the Silverado Trail in Calistoga, located in California’s Napa Valley.

A portion of proceeds from the sale of each bottle of Wayne Family Estate wine will benefit the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, which the actor’s family created to fulfill his wish of fighting cancer with courage, strength and grit.

Three premium Napa Valley wines make up the Wayne Family Estate inaugural collection: The Duke, a 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve; 26 Bar, a 2019 Chardonnay Reserve; and The Duke, a Sparkling Blanc de Noirs Reserve – Méthode Champenoise.

The Duke 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve – Napa Valley: The flagship Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has notes of black cherry, blackberry and plum complemented by hits of toasted oak, dried currant and baking spice. Fine-grained tannins and ample brightness on the palate give way to a polished mouthfeel and exceptionally long finish. It is available for $95 ($75 for members).

26 Bar 2019 Chardonnay Reserve – Napa Valley: This wine is named for the 26 Bar Ranch, John Wayne’s 14,000-acre working purebred Hereford cattle ranch in Arizona. From the chalky soil of the Carneros region in southern Napa Valley, this beauty exhibits balanced fruit with tarte acidity making this wine a classic example of Premium Napa Valley Chardonnay. It is available for $56 ($45 for members).

The Duke Sparkling Blanc de Noirs Reserve -- Méthode Champenoise – Napa Valley: This premium sparkling wine – meticulously and artfully made in the traditional Champagne method – rivals anything from the best Champagne houses in Épernay and Reims. It is available for $85 ($65 for members).

Membership in The Duke Wine Club begins with a one-time $50 nonrefundable deposit that secures your club seniority and is applied to your first shipment of wines. Biannual club shipments are available in either three or six bottle formats, with the cost varying based on your selections. Benefits of club membership include customized wine selections, discounts on estate wine and gift sets, free wine tastings in Napa Valley, wine events and wine delivered in a handmade and collectible fire-branded wooden Duke wine crate. Become a member at waynefamilyestate.com/join.

For the holidays, the Wayne Family Estate is offering three packages featuring its premium Sparkling Napa Valley wine. Make your gift extra special by including a personalized message with our wooden holiday card.  Each offering is expertly curated and beautifully packaged. The three packages available are Sparkling Special ($119, $95.20 member), Sparkling Lover ($189, $151.20 member), and A Sparkling Toast (pictured above; $299, $239.20 member).

To see package details and additional seasonal discount codes or purchase a package, visit waynefamilyestate.com/holiday-gifting.

Creating a partnership with a California winemaker has long been a goal of the Wayne family.

“These are great wines, and my father would enjoy them whether his name was on the bottle or not,” said Ethan Wayne, the actor’s son and head of John Wayne Enterprises.

“I am honored to make these wines with Ethan in celebration of all that is John Wayne in the hearts of all Americans,” said Brandon Chaney, proprietor and CEO of Wayne Family Estate and Fairwinds in Napa Valley.

New Year's Eve Fiesta

If it weren't for the cold temperatures in the Gallup/Jamestown areas, this looks to be a fun event to attend to ring in the new year.

The lows are expected to drop into the 20s Sunday night. I will stay indoors at home where I will be toasty warm. Being turned into a human icicle is not my idea of fun.

Fired Up The Toys

Above, relaxing in the den after running the Jeep and the other toys.

As yesterday's temperature got close to 50°, it was a good opportunity to fire up the Jeep, mini bike and zero-turn mower and run them for a while.

It had been over a week since I started the Jeep. After starting it up, I took it for a spin around a few blocks.

I did all this after going down to Denny's at the Flying J for lunch of salad and Coke.

After running the toys, I headed inside to relax over a cup of coffee.

California To Give Medi-Cal Coverage To All Illegals

It is no small wonder why there's an exodus of Californians fleeing the state.

The following is sure to make the already strained taxpayers not very happy.

From KTLA-TV:

For the first time, undocumented immigrants of all ages will qualify for Medi-Cal, California’s version of the federal government’s Medicaid program for low-income people.

The new guidelines will make California the only state to fund comprehensive health care for undocumented immigrants beginning Jan.1, 2024.

“This historic investment speaks to California’s commitment to health care as a human right,” Sen. María Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) said in a statement.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced in May that a new budget deal with the Legislature included Medi-Cal expansion that would cover more undocumented adults.

The program expansion is expected to provide health coverage for about 700,000 undocumented residents between the ages of 26 and 49, according to Sen. Durazo.

The latest Medi-Cal expansion is expected to cost $2.6 billion annually.

Maine's Fascist Secretary of State Shenna Bellows

Now, under fascist Democrat "logic", challenging the results of a possible fraudulent election is now "insurrection". At least that's according to Maine's leftist Democrat secretary of state.

CBS News reported:

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows says she was following Maine's election law and upholding the U.S. Constitution when she disqualified Donald Trump from her state's presidential primary ballot.

Maine is the second state to bar Trump from the ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution — a decision the Trump campaign said it would appeal. It is the only state where a challenge to a candidate's qualification is initially the responsibility of the secretary of state rather than a court.

CBS News spoke with Bellows shortly after the release of her decision Thursday night.

The interview was restricted to a discussion of her ruling and the process, leaving unanswered questions about risks to her potential safety. In the wake of the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling to disqualify Trump from holding office — a ruling that's currently on hold pending appeal — the Colorado justices who voted to bar him have been inundated with threats.

"In evaluating the weight of the evidence, it (was) made clear that Mr. Trump was aware of the tinder that was laid in a multi-month effort to delegitimize the 2020 election and (he) then chose to light a match," said Bellows, a Democrat who took office in 2021.

"The U.S. Constitution does not tolerate an assault on the foundations of our government. And Maine election law required me to act in response," she said. "The events of January 6 were unprecedented and tragic. It was an assault not only on the Capitol and government officials, including the former vice president and members of Congress, but on the rule of law itself. … Mr. Trump engaged in that insurrection and thereby, is not qualified to be on the ballot."

Trump has already appealed Colorado's Supreme Court decision to the U.S. Supreme Court. If the U.S. Supreme Court rules in Trump's favor, this will have big ramifications on states where Democrats are using similar tactics. This is nothing less than a conspiracy of election interference in the Republican Presidential Primary by the Democrat Party.

Snow Showers Return Next Week

Above, a little snow driving three years ago. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Yesterday, I got the motorhome back into its garage. It was a tad warmer out yesterday, but not by much. It's the wind that makes if seem colder.

I also got some household chores done as well, so that frees up my time for this weekend.

It appears that the dry spell (along with cold tempertures) will continue this coming week and the chance of snow showers begins Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service:

Today
Sunny, with a high near 47. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight

Saturday
Partly sunny, with a high near 51. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
Saturday Night

Warner Bros. Restoring "The Searchers"... Plus

Last evening, I was reading a post from the official John Wayne Facebook page about The Seachers (1956).

A little item at the end of the post caught my attention:

Did you know? Warner Bros is restoring The Searchers and premiering at the 2024 TCM Film Festival, Apr 18-21 in Los Angeles, CA.

If I were still living in Los Angeles, I would definitely be going to this. The Searchers is one of my all-time favorite movies. Seeing Monument Valley on the big screen in glorious color would be fantastic to see.

RPNM 2024 Legislative Reception & Dinner

I decided to attend. I haven't been to Santa Fe since the gun rally that took place at the Capitol in January 2020. It should be interesting!

For tickets, go here.

2023 Highlights

Above, at the Crystal Palace Saloon in Tombstone, Arizona
during the Lost Dutchman Chapter's Spring Clampout.

As we're only days away from 2014, I thought I would take a look back on 2023.

The year wasn't too bad for me personally. Health and general living were fine and dandy, but I do have to keep watch on my blood pressure. My cardiologist says the best thing to do is to keep active and exercise (a lot of walking).

Above, Mitch Geriminsky and I with U.S. Mint Director Ventris
 C. Gibson at the National Money Show in Phoenix, Arizona.

The first quarter's highlight was going to the American Numismatic Association's National Money Show in Phoenix, Arizona. I flew to Phoenix and met Mitch Geriminsky there. I was amazed at how big the city of Phoenix had grown. We had a good time perusing the dealers's displays of coins. We met U.S. Mint Director Ventris C. Gibson at the show. I joined the American Numismatic Association while there.

The second quarter's highlight was the Spring Clampout of the Lost Dutchman Chapter of E Clampus Vitus in Tombstone, Arizona. Over 300 clampers attended. On the way there, I stopped by John Wayne's former ranch, the 26 Bar Ranch in Eagar. It was a nice drive along the eastern third of Arizona. The clampout was enjoyable and I took part in the ritual of the initiation rites. I hadn't been to Tombstone since the late 1980s, so it was nice to be back. The plaque dedication was at Boot Hill Graveyard.

Above, yours truly at Old Tucson Studios.

After the clampout, I headed to Tucson to pay a visit to Saguaro National Park and Old Tucson Studios. I had never been to either before, so it was a good opportunity to see both.

I attened the Lions Club Rodeo in June.

Above, cousin Maria and Fred stopped by for a quick visit at the Flying J in July.

In August, the Gallup Gun Show returned to Gallup for the first time since before the pandemic. I attended the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial at Red Rock Park, including its rodeo.

Above, Ethan Wayne, John Wayne's youngest son, and I with my donation
check to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation near Ridgway, Colorado.

In September, I returned to Ridgway, Colorado for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation "Grit Series" marathons. This time I volunteered to help man a water station for the runners. The weather was a little brisk and my allergies were giving me fits, but I toughed it out. Before leaving after the marathons were over, I handed Ethan Wayne a donation to the cancer foundation.

Above, Mitch Geriminsky and I with the birthday present
painting by Asya Lipovetckaia. Photo by Dwight Kuntz.

In October, the annular eclipse's path went directly over my home in Jamestown, New Mexico. I took some photos of it from Barking Spider Acre.

Above, waiting for the annular solar eclipse to start.

Also in October, I attended friend Mitch Geriminsky's 70th birthday party in Lake Havasu. I gave him a commissioned painting by Asya Lipovetckaia, which he and the other attendees loved. While in Lake Havasu, I shot skeet for the first time and enjoyed it. Afterwards, I bought a Remington 870 Express shotgun in Lake Havasu.

Above, yours truly with the new shotgun.

I wasn't done with Lake Havasu. I went back for Christmas with the Geriminskys and did some more skeet shooting with the new shotgun.

Hopefully, 2024 will also be a good year.

Boycotts and Other Fallout Against Colorado

The fallout over the removal of former President Donald Trump from the Colorado Primary ballot by the Colorado Supreme Court continues.

First, Republican leaders in the state led a protest and taking other action.

From the Colorado Newsline:

A Republican-led protest in Denver sought to “stand against activist judges” following the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to bar former President Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot, with attendees calling out justices for using “communist tactics to keep our great President Trump off the ballot.”

The protest, organized by Colorado Republican Party fundraising chair Darcy Schoening, drew about two dozen people to the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center in Denver Wednesday afternoon. She and Colorado state Sen. Mark Baisley, a Sedalia Republican, addressed the group.

Schoening said the Colorado Republican Party will drop out of the primary and switch to a delegate system so Trump can be the Republican presidential candidate in the state if the U.S. Supreme Court doesn’t overturn the ruling in time. She said the party has the legal ability to drop out of the primary and that GOP Chair Dave Williams is moving in that direction, with a meeting of the state central committee coming soon to decide the matter.

Next, thousands of truckers are boycotting Colorado until Trump's name is back on the ballot:

It's Cold Outside

Above, the current temperature according to my Weather Bug app.

It has been cold here in the Southwest. I noticed it yesterday during my drive home from Lake Havasu.

I got home 40 minutes ago from taking Larry Lucier to his physical therapist, picking up my meds, doing some grocery shopping and stopping for a mocha latte at Gallup Coffee Company. After all that, Larry and I had dinner at Grandpa's Grill in Gallup.

Thank goodness Larry's bus has a good working heater. Even thpugh the temperature gauges said it was around 40°, the winds made it feel much colder.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be warmer.

Love The Smell of Hoppes No. 9 In The Morning

Since it is a whopping 30° outside, I will be deferring working on The Beast (motorhome) until tomorrow.

Instead, I cleaned and oiled my Ruger 9mm pistol and Remington shotgun. I had to do it anyway, so I might as well get it done. It was something to do since it is too cold outside.

Pierce Brosnan Cited For Walking In Thermal Area In Yellowstone

Above, some terraces of Yellowstone's Mammoth Hot Springs. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

There has been several incidents of tourist bad behavior at Yellowstone National Park over the past several years. Some involve wildlife and some involve the park's geothermal areas.

The latest involves actor Pierce Brosnan.

Yahoo! Life reported:

The latest badly behaved tourist in Yellowstone National Park is reportedly none other than Pierce Brosnan.

As The Messenger reports, the 70-year-old actor was cited in U.S. District Court for "foot travel in a thermal area" and a "closure violation" at Mammoth Terraces after reportedly entering the off-limits thermal area. The exact date of the incident wasn't immediately clear, although an initial court appearance in Wyoming already occurred, with another set for Jan. 23, 2024.

He has been filming the movie Unholy Trinity in the nearby area.

Night Shooting In The Cold

Photo: Combined Joint Task Force - Horn.

Years ago, I and several others with Protection One security patrol went out to a gun range in Tuna Canyon to do some night shooting training.

This was the first time I did any target shooting at night and, I have to admit, it was fun.

We have a shooting area near our subdivision that is part of the Cibola National Forest. Apparently, some brave souls last night braved the cold temperatures (and wind) and were shooting at around 7:00 PM. A few of our residents were none too happy over this. I didn't hear the shots.

Right now, it is 19° outside. A bit too cold for me.

Back Home

Above, yours truly yesterday at the gun range in Lake Havasu. Photo by Mitch Geriminsky.

Well, despite having only five and a half hours of sleep last night (Sierra crowded me and my side started aching), I made it home in one piece.

It was an enjoyable Christmas weekend at Mitch & Holly Geriminsky's in Lake Havasu. Besides the usual yuletide activities, we went to a couple of restaurants/bars I've never been to before (The Chair and The Bunker Bar). We also did plenty of target practice at the local skeet and pistol & rifle ranges.

Now I have to prepare The Beast (motorhome) before putting into the garage and clean my Remington shotgun and Ruger pistol.

Since I am a bit exhausted, I should be able to get a good night's sleep.

RV Dealer Makes Buyer Leave Over $2,500 "Dealer Prep/Walk Thru" Charge

Above, my Winnebago on La Mesa RV's lot. La Mesa RV photo.

When one buys an RV, be it a motorhome or a trailer, the walk-through with the dealer is usually part of the sales transaction before one drives it off the lot.

I purchased two Class C motorhomes and each time the dealer gave me a walk-through the unit explaining each system and feature. I have never been charged for such. I videoed the first one for future reference.

When I bought my current Winnebago Class C, the dealer (La Mesa RV) even picked me up at the airport in San Diego, gratis!

I was perusing RV Travel this morning and an item caught my eye. A Camping World dealer decided to charge a customer $2,500 for a "dealer prep charge".

Here's what was written:

Charge for a walk-through?

Joseph W. was buying a Class C and the dealer was going to charge for a walk-through! He wrote, “We were looking for a Class C and were ready to spend over 100K. The Camping World salesperson told me that there was a $2,500 dealer prep charge. When I asked, she said it included the walk-through. I told her I was walking through the door right out of the store. I found a dealer who does not charge for a walk-through. Guess where we will buy?”

I would have done the same.

Christmas Day At The Range

Above, yours truly today at the gun range. Photo by Mitch Geriminsky.

Christmas was enjoyable in Lake Havasu today. We opened presents at Mitch and Holly's in the morning and then went over to Holly's mom's home for breakfast.

After that, we took a break for a couple of hours and then went back to Sara Park to the pistol and rifle range to do some more target shooting.

I used my Ruger 9mm pistol. I keep a 100-round box of 9mm ammunition in the motorhome, so that came in handy. It had been a while since I last used my pistol. I did reasonably well with it.

Holly did some more practicing with her new AR-15 rifle. Mitch brought along several of his pistols.

Later, we headed back to their home and relaxed watching Jail on television.

Before going to bed, I will be getting things put away in the motorhome for tomorrow's drive back to New Mexico.

How To Repair or Replace An RV Vent Fan

Not long after I bought my 2015 Winnebago Minnie Winnie 22R, I found that the bathroom vent cover (with fan) "glued" itself shut. As the motorhome was still under warranty, I took it to the Valencia Camping World to have it fixed. Camping World was an authorized warranty dealer for Winnebago.

The next time I had an issue with a vent cover was following the Wells, Nevada trip in 2018 (the one where I had to have two stents put into a coronary artery) when the cover shattered. I called a mobile RV repairer in Lake Havasu and he took care of replacing the vent cover. I was in no shape to do it myself and rains were imminent.

Those were the only times I had to deal with vent covers. My vent fan still works great.

Do It Yourself RV has posted an article on how to repair or replace an RV vent fan.

It begins with:

It’s no secret that the RV vent fan that comes standard in most motorhomes and trailers is a wonderful accessory. The fan can be used to get rid of excess moisture, get air moving through the rig, or send bad smells outdoors.

Unfortunately, your RV vent fan probably won’t last forever. At some point, it will inevitably start to malfunction in one way or another, leaving you with the task of either repairing or replacing it to continue enjoying its benefits.

The good news? Repairing and replacing RV vent fan accessories is something most handy individuals can do on their own. Here’s what you need to know.

Classic Rock Music Monday

Merry Christmas, everyone!

The stuff that now passes as "music", particularly rock 'n roll, leaves me cold. So, to start off the week, here's a video of a classic rock artist.

Since today is Christmas Day, it would be most appropriate to have a Christmas song on this Classic Rock Music Monday. This also marks the first repeat artist since I began this Monday "ritual". So, without further ado, here's Elvis Presley and his 1957 version of "Blue Christmas" along with his 1968 "Comeback Special" version.

Ammo Shortages Are Back!

Since I have been in Lake Havasu, Mitch Geriminsky and I have been to several gun stores browsing around.

On Friday, while waiting for a store to open (which never did), we killed some time checking out three gun stores. (It seems that Lake Havasu has as many gun stores as the San Fernando Valley in California has nail salons.) We went to some more yesterday.

Each have been saying that ammunition is going to be scarcer next year and the prices will jump up. In a gun store yesterday, they were selling .30-30 Winchester ammo for $70.00/box of 20. I am glad that I already stockpiled ammunition beforehand. They were all blaming NATO for this.

If one can, start buying ammunition now before the prices rise even further and it becomes harder to find.

Note: There are some people who feel that this post is "spreading B.S." and trying to "cause" a run on ammo. That's not the intent of this post. I am just reporting on what six gun dealers in Lake Havasu told us directly. It could be a regional thing. But each said the same thing that NATO is the cause and prices are going up.

I buy ammo online and have had no problems so far. If one wants to make a rebuttal, feel free to post it in the comments. Just make it factual and respectful and I will approve it.

The Bunker Bar

Above, the bar is under the main canopy along with a souvenir shop. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Yesterday afternoon, after we had finished target shooting, we headed over to The Bunker (also known as The Bunker Bar) that is north of the city of Lake Havasu and is in the middle of the desert.

According to their website:

A new off-road destination bar just outside of Lake Havasu

A unique outdoor middle of the desert experience! Great food, music, games and plenty to drink with a relaxed environment. Family friendly.

Sorry No Pets Allowed.

Access to The Bunker is via a 3-5 mile dirt road. It is a military themed establishment. It runs on generators as there are no power lines to it. They have alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and food. Children are allowed. They also have live music.

I tried out their chili fries, which were pretty good.

Above, the souvenir cap I bought. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Under the main canopy, they also have a souvenir window, I bought myself a cap. It will go good with the Jeep.

Their address: 6942 Thirsty Lizard Road, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404.

I took some photos while we were there:

Skeet and Other Shooting

We managed to do some skeet shooting in the morning. It was clear out, but a little cold from last night's storm.

I found that the new shotgun was a little difficult to aim at skeet clays, especially when they were flying away from my shooting position. I may have to get a shotgun with a longer barrel. (We all need good excuses to buy more guns, right?) I had better luck in hitting skeet clays during the October shoot.

Still, it was a lot of fun. It is better than sitting around in a rocking chair.

After breakfast, we went back to the shooting area, but this time we went to a rifle and pistol range where Mitch's wife Holly tried out her new AR rifle her boss gave her for Christmas. We also shot pistols and other rifles. One of our group had a Henry H027 9mm rifle. I tried it out and liked it. Maybe I'll get one.

During the afternoon, we went to The Bunker Bar, which is out in the middle of the desert where access is only through a 3-5 mile dirt road. But that will be the topic of another blog post.

Some photos of the day:

We May Be Able To Skeet Shoot

Above, Mitch and Holly's front yard this morning. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Unless it starts raining again, it looks like we'll be able to do some skeet shooting today. It is not raining at present.

It finally started raining in Lake Havasu last evening around 8:00. It came down pretty hard for a while. (Maybe even longer, after I fell asleep.).

We are supposed to meet up at the skeet range at 8:00 this morning. Hopefully, rains will hold off so that we can do our shooting.

Fingers crossed!
